It is usually easier to message super mods in game.

 

just ask a mod

 

get a mod to steal your sign.

 

Don't worry things happen
What you have to do to get your chest back is to ask a Super Moderator or Full Moderator in-game to remove the sign. If you are having troubles finding on you can always type /list to see every player online including Moderators.
Usually there are 1-2 Moderators online so don't worry. If they aren't online tho you can leave your island unlocked by typing /unlock and request on forum a Moderator to destroy the signs.

Just get a moderator to break the lockette on your chests. After that, you'll be able to access the chests perfectly fine.
