There are some videos out there that have made me very successful with terraforming. My first video I watched I understood it really well. Stel_ has a really good example but I do suggest looking up on YouTube on how to do it cause I think personally its not that hard and your going to waste your grass/diamonds on paying someone.
If you find yourself unsuccessful in terraforming after watching a couple of videos then you should probably pay someone to do it for you.
I'm so glad I know how to terraform.. it looks like hell of a lot of work to find someone who can do it for you.
if youre having trouble terraforming my advice is to just wing it. you can fix it later before you put grass and sand on it. my island on net is fully terraformed but im not near done landscaping. (/visit zephyrxen). my other tip is to ask Fuii lol. hes super critical but he knows his way around building and landscaping and is just a pretty nice guy in general
/visit xwarlifex and fly to the bottom of the island my terraform is over halfway done and looks pretty good at the moment
