Personally, if I were you I would use wool, clay, or some redstone blocks for some red parts.
Maybe blend in some coal blocks for the black parts and clay or wool for the rest.

Black - Black wool / coal blocks
    Dark red - redstone
    light red - red wool
    skin - sand/clay
greys - light and dark grey wool
    dark blue - obsidian
    white - white wool

    That's what I'd personally use.

I'd personally go for: dark red as red clay, light red as just normal red wool, the skin tone as white clay, for the hair I'd say different tones of brown clay and brown wool, white as quartz (or wool for a cheaper option), black as coal blocks, both tones as grey as dark / light wool, and for the pants / dark blue I'd say use dark blue wool and coal, I wouldn't say obsidian as it's hard to build with and can be turned into lava by /untrusted people.

Thanks for the help. But question, where can you get clays, and how much do they cost?
and the block of redstone and block of coal?

This is what I would use too. Though birch wood works well for skin too. White clay looks better in default texture pack

If untrusted players can turn obsidian to lava, then might as well move the statue far away so they can't reach. Then again, they can epearl, so might as well ignore the dark blue part of my skin.

I could use blue clay, but obsidian still wins.

You'd have to make it so people can't /jump or /fly to get to it.
