So, I think that you should be able to delete posts in your own thread, just like you can do so on your profile. But, I believe that you have to have a minimum of 500 posts and 100 likes to prevent abuse.

Because your profile isn't generally used for discussing suggestions and mod applications, whereas threads on the forums are

The reason you can't delete someone else's posts just ties in with trolling I think. People will delete other's posts if it doesn't follow their beliefs or thoughts, or they'll delete evidence of breaking rules. It would cause more problems than it would be worth.
