This thread is in off-topic b/c I didn't know where to put it. If it would go better somewhere else please move it. I have a problem with my Minecraft account. I want to migrate it but I don't know the email address used for it. This account was given to me by a friend who is now unreachable (i.e. Whereabouts unknown, no communication attempts work) and he told me the username and password. How can I find out the email address so I can migrate? Mojang support is no help. I already tried talking to them and all they could do is say find the friend. I don't have the transaction ID either. At some point, I will be desperate enough to just download some hacked client to extract the info.
Hello Ssdamage, I basically had the exact same issue accept I just couldn't remember my own email. The ONLY way to find out the email / change the email is to contact Mojang with the transaction ID. There is no possible way to obtain it with a "hacked client" as this is a client mod that affects ingame things such as speed mine and flying. I'm sorry to tell you but the only way you are going to achieve your goal or migrating the account would be by finding your friend or the email linked with the account. Anyway Good Luck with this!
You used to be able to find the email for an account by logging in and heading to the mojang site and clicking to reset the password there -- but that's been fixed for a while now. Just went to minecraft.net and realized its entirely different now too... looks like you're out of luck. Try finding another account (i.e. social media) he uses to contact him I guess is your best bet.

Do you have another email you could use? When I got a new email and had deleted my old one, there was an option to change the email even if you didn't have access to the old one. I don't know where the option is exactly because it's been a couple months, but I hope this somehow helps.
