So I am starting a Youtube channel but first I need a proper free recording software (and simple). I still haven't planned exactly what I will do but yea. Feel free to give me ideas also

Open Broadcaster is quite good. Would also allow you to stream as well if you wanted

OBS is the best free software. FRAPS is good, but not recommended as the files end up uncompressed and a 20s recording is like 1GB.

When editing videos, if you're cheap like me, always go for Windows Movie Maker! I use it all the time in my videos (I don't do gaming btw) and I use a freaking Kodak Play&Touch, and it works out great :D

I use full version of Fraps that I got from Pile_of_Butts and then I chuck it all into Sony Vegas, render it at 1080p60fps and it makes the file like 500mb instead of the 20 videos being like 25gb. Quite good. You can get all this paid stuff for free too.

OBS is good, but if you have no prior experience, it may be hard to set up.

I'm pretty sure Bandicam will get that horrible watermark in all of your videos if you do not pay for it or something...

OBS is solid, just know that it will drop your fps more than other softwares

    It doesn't drop my fps...
OBS lets you do as long as you want, but keep in mind without doing something with youtube, I think it was verifying your account, you can't post longer than 15 minutes.
