hey guys, Not to be rude or anything, but is there a reason that certain staff's profiles are locked? I'm not going to single anyone out here, but if someone is going to be staff, they're somewhat obliged to be available for the community. Profile posts are the easiest, semi temporary way for a player to reach a Mod. It's somewhat self explanatory as to why a moderator should have their profile accessible for the entirety of the community to not only view, but to post on as well. Sorry if I cause any fuss.
Certain staff have been harassed consistently with alts, players and it has gotten to the point the only way to stop it is to private their profiles because the use of alts cannot be stopped. Some moderators have things from their profiles picked on through other peoples profiles too making them uncomfortable. Now the nature of the harassment is beyond what anyone should be subjected to, thus if there is any suggestions that staff need to toughen up... forget mentioning it. This is acceptable as long as a mod is contactable through private message which is the best ways to sort out and handle issues. It is just as easy to pm a mod than to write on their profile. Same process of clicking the players name and when the box comes up press start conversation. Easy. Players have the right to lock their profiles for different reasons including privacy, to stop harassment, or simply they want to control who can see their content. Seeing as a mods profile is no different to what players use it for there is no reason why we cannot hide our profiles as long as we are contactable by other means. Plus even if you cannot get through on the profile of a mod there is a whole staff team of mods to choose from. Choice isn't limited. So instead of making threads like this why not consider why a person would want their profile locked, apply it to staff because we are also still players too, and then ask an experienced staff member why.
Why would anyone take anything seriously on a minecraft forum just ignore it. I also agree that mods shouldn't lock their profiles
1. If they get harassed on their profiles, ban them; it's not allowed. 2. If they are harassed with Alts, ban the persons main, then ip ban them. At some point they'll just give up cause they'll have to make a new email everytime.
Staff need to toughen up. If they're really doing that much wrong that they're being 'constantly harassed' to the point they have to hide in a corner, why stay as mod? Accessible by msg? They should be accessible in any form; profile posts, messages, perhaps teamspeak. Your third paragraph is completely subjective. Mods are completely different to players in that their roles are to be somewhat role models for the community. Having a locked profile because they're scared that the community will eBully them is quite the pathetic excuse. Everyone argues that mods are doing the server a favour, ect and that they're here for free, ect, and they are, but if they're really using that as an excuse then perhaps their position as mod should be revoked. Every staff member should be accessible. If there is one mod on the forums and their profile is locked, the community should be able to view their profile, post on it, see their recent posts, gage activeness and accuracy of actions... It's a fair enough call Krissy. So instead of posting and trying to make out that staff are but replicates of normal players, why don't you consider the fact that they're not, and never will be. As long as a staff member is well, a staff member, they will be on a separate level to that of a 'normal player'. Mods are here to help, and they are here to somewhat show what is right and what is wrong. Having a locked profile isn't exactly achieving that, and in no way do I see anything that you stated as a legitimate reason for the locking of a staff members profile.
Maybe certain mods are like the dragon born and don't want the peasants of today to find out... Fus Ro Dah
And here I am looking at the message button that is available to all staff and players.... (pretty sure that's the most convenient way to message someone is to start a conversation)
Not sure if anyone does but there are more then just 2-3 staff. Feel free to click the staff tab and choose a staff to message. There will always be someone available to contact regardless, as I never even considered locking my profile and not many staff do.
Totally agree what Krissy said until: Its a valid question- im sure he thought about it but even if he didnt he wasnt offending anyone nor was he calling anyone out. This isnt a suggestions thread
How is what I said even reminiscent of a suggestion... I'm giving two reasons to stop harassment instead of just locking everyone out.
