Suggested listening: Walk Off The Earth, Red Hands

I was told once that people will believe anything if they want it to be true, or if they fear it might be. There is a lot of fear going around these days. It is easier to get what you want if you frighten them in some way, even if what you scare them with isn't all that solid to begin with.

I'm not here to scare you into thinking your post is bad, ma'am. No need to worry that my opinion means anything, to anyone. I don't want anything from you. Feel free to ignore this entire review and nothing at all will happen.

Quite welcome, ma'am. Looking forward to reading through this and replying. You've been extremely patient, thank you.

Nice to meet you, Ms. Mae. I love you in the movie but your character was a bit under developed compared to Peter's.

+1, nicely done. A lot of applications go down in flames right about here, it is nice to see someone in the U.K. specifically explain they are UTC+0.

+1 for being bilingual. I don't think this is a requirement for Moderator but it certainly can't hurt.

I laughed like a child hearing fart jokes for the first time.

This sounds so unbelievable I almost have to accept it as true. "These aren't fake diamonds! An invisible person is giving them to me!" -- That is either 100% genuine or the more impressive, brazen lie I have heard in quite a while. I'm going with "True", don't make me regret it. •amused•

This is going very well so far. Let me force my ungrateful offspring to brush her rotten little teeth, then I'll sit down and give this portion some serious attention. I always like to read what people think is important for a management position.

    ...

I'm back. Two words: Sugar Bugs.

Alright, +1. Starting with a personal appeal to emotion is a good opening. The only suggestions I could make would be cosmetic.

That was extremely well written opening paragraph. I could not find a spot where you transitioned "off message" to break this up into separate portions for commenting. +1 for staying on topic, this sort of sentence flow is tough to pull off.

This triggered me more than the Manchurian Candidate.

Right off the bat: Do not disqualify yourself inside your own qualification. "Dedicated: I haven't been on as long as others" made me sigh like a disappointed helicopter parent.

This needs a strong rewrite with an eye towards making more sense. You begin with "dedication" but then detour immediately into playtime, muddle through taking on hard situations and finish up with being strict and sensible. You basically listed experience, perseverance and maturity (in that order).

Being dedicated means focusing on a goal and working towards it while ignoring distractions and detours. You came close with "never give up, no matter what": Stick with that thought and expand a bit. How would you never give up? What is your goal? How do you avoid distractions, etc? How does this benefit a Moderator?

This is workable. Normally I suggest removing "honesty" and "maturity" qualifications because they are filled with fluff and fairly worthless. Honesty is a topic where you sound less believable the more you talk about it.

However you've tied this together well by giving examples of different kinds of honesty (and how you apply it). Can't hurt your application, keep it.

Recommend you rewrite the last sentence: "Honest; unlike being too honest" is a bit of a paradox. You're implying you wouldn't be completely truthful under certain circumstances.

Bah. Reflexively twitched and spilled my drink.

Do not disqualify yourself in your own qualification. "Strict: Although I can be jokey" made me slowly bang my forehead against the table. Ending the paragraph with the suggestion you would be boring if you were serious all the time does not help.

If the message you are pushing is how strict and serious you are then stay on topic, ma'am. Don't go sideways into talking about how funny and "jokey" you can be. Explain why strictness is essential in a good Moderator, why it benefits the job and how you personally exhibit the quality.

Please find a synonym for "help", or structure your sentences in a way you highlight assisting others in beneficial ways to aid them in achieving their goals through constructive responses and I sincerely hope this run-on sentence is offering examples in how to work with someone to collaborate on finding new ways to express the same idea.

You make good points here, Ms. Mae. I really enjoyed your explanations on why you're not publicly visible all the time when assisting others. It shows a lot of character to say you don't need public attention to understand when you are doing a good job (even if you didn't say it quite that way). I caught what you were trying to explain and I respect you for it.

Good start; explain why this is an essential trait for someone in a position of authority. Yes, I know it may seem obvious. But if you are going to put responsibility on your application then you may as well explain why it is so important.

+1 immediately for "grieved" instead of "griefed". OUTSTANDING. This is the first correct usage of "to grief" I have seen in almost a hundred application reviews.

Coming back down from that: Either toss this section or change focus. You cannot support "I am trustworthy" by talking about how trusted you are. You would need to give names, examples, evidence, blah, blah and open yourself up to endless debates on if you're perfect or not.

If you must keep this a better focus would be emphasizing how the cornerstone of valid authority is "trust". Explain why a Mod needs to be beyond reproach in order to work effectively and how even the suggestion of being untrustworthy invites issues. Or just ignore me, I'm pretty bad at advice.

For the love of ugly pugs, please provide a time for when you will be online ma'am. It is nice to know you'll be online for several hours a day, but... when?? Are you volunteering for the midnight to 3am shift? It is hard to hire you to fill a schedule without knowing when you'll be around.

Concisely said, +1. Do you have any experiencing handling groups in other settings? Do you lead activities at school, or arrange volunteer efforts? Anything where you get a group of people to work together would probably be fine to list here.

That was worth the read tonight.
You are quite welcome, ma'am. One of the best applications I've gone through this week. If my opinion mattered at all you would have a good shot.

When you have a moment the application template has changed and you're missing some questions. Please add the following:
    • What country do you live in?
    • Do you have 2FA enabled? Yes/No
    • Do you have the necessary means of capturing evidence?
    • How long have you been playing Skyblock?
    • Do you meet the requirements for staff? Yes/No
Best of luck in the future, Ms. Mae.

Thank you PC. And thank you so much Myrm. It is going to help me a lot. Just one question: What is a 2FA? I have heard of it, however I don't have a clue what it is. Thanks for everything .

"Two Factor Authentication". Here is the link, ma'am. It basically makes you type in a code when you log onto the forums. Be aware: If you are running your browser in "Incognito Mode" this plugin won't work, that took me a solid hour to figure out.
