I hope that you will be able to read over my application and give me some constructive criticism on how to improve myself. To the admins, be rest assured that I can be one to be trusted in order to serve and put the power entrusted into me by the server, the staff and the admins into good and proper use. Yours in Service, andrewswj Hello, I am Andrew, a 14-year old currently living in Singapore. I have been playing actively on Skyblock for about 5 months now, and I have grown to love playing on this server and this close-knit, welcoming community. Other than playing Minecraft, I also enjoy playing the violin, cycling, reading and learning about astronomy. I am a Scout, which may have contributed to my passion for helping those in need or in trouble, the Last, the Lost and the Least. I am quite sociable, and enjoy making friends. The prospect of being able to fully serve this community has led me to apply for the Trial-Moderator position in order to be able to prove myself to the community. I will never, ever go back on my words, whatever that is stated below is the full, honest truth written in the most honest way possible. Your in-game name: My in-game name is andrewswj. My nickname inside the game is "Andrew", which is also my actual name. Which timezone are you in? I am in the timezone GMT +8, which allows me to be able to moderate and bridge the gap from US-based mods and hand off to the EU-based moderators. This time zone lacks moderators, hence I feel that if I become one, I will be able to better increase the coverage of moderation on the server. Which languages do you speak? I speak English as my first language and I also know fluent Mandarin (Chinese). I understand that I do not know many languages as compared to other players. However, if I see something in chat and I feel it looks suspicious, I would look it up on Google. Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?) No, I have not been banned yet, and I am confident that it will stay that way. I am familiar with all the rules and will be sure to adhere to them. Why do you think you should be a mod? Firstly, I would like to clear up certain speculations or questions that arise out of a moderator application. Firstly, I am not applying to become a moderator in order to have interesting commands. I understand that a Moderator's role is not to take advantage of commands entrusted into him/her, but rather to use them in order to better serve the community and help the server from those who flout the rules. Secondly, I am not applying to become a Moderator in order to become a celebrity or a popular person on this server. I fully understand that as a Moderator, I cannot be there to be fawned upon by players. Neither am I, as a Moderator, supposed to be everybody's best friend or please everybody. I must place righteousness and integrity above popularity. As a Moderator, I would have to make sure I weigh situations fairly and honestly regardless of whether the involved is a non-donor, a donor, a friend, or not a friend. Thirdly, I am not applying to become a Moderator in order to grab attention whenever I need it. As a Moderator, I need to be someone who is there to pay attention to help requests in chat, as fast as it may go by in order to be someone that the server can rely on for help and assistance where they require it. On to Why I think I should be a moderator: I feel that I should become a Moderator in order to Serve. As of recently, I have been trying to serve the community as much as possible. As an ordinary player, I have been able to go as far in serving the Skyblock Community as helping answer queries in chat and help teleport to players' islands and assist them with grief/loot reports. While serving the community, I have been constantly troubled with this question: How? How can I, help others more? This is the very key reason why I am applying to become a moderator: To help others more and resolve their problems as quickly as possible in order to free up time to help others. I also feel that I should become a moderator in order to be able to make sure that the server is a clean, scam-free, spam-free and safe place for players. As I have been playing on Skyblock, I have noticed players complaining about scams, etc. This has led me to feel that I can help solve problems on the spot, especially when more than often in my timezone no moderators are online, sometimes for a large period of time. I have also noticed that advertisers and spammers frequently visit the server. As a Moderator, I would be able to stop advertisers as soon as possible. When spam often enters into the chat, players mostly ignore the warnings given by other players to stop flooding the chat. As a Moderator, when encountering a spammer, I would be able to command respect from the player and prevent spam from continuing. If it does continue, I would definitely take the necessary action against the player (Mute/kick/tempban). Thirdly, I have observed that for a constant period of time during my timezone, little or no moderators are on for almost all the time, which calls for one to ease the load off the existing moderators. I would be able to keep order within the server and make sure that breaking of rules is kept to a minimum. Finally, I wish to Give Back to the Community that has taken care of me since I have joined this server. This close-knit community is by far the best, and the rarest I have ever seen in my Minecraft playing experience. I would be very humbled if I were allowed to give back and serve those who have served everyone. I admit that I do not have many friends on the server. However, I reiterate that as a Moderator I would not use my power in order to be well-liked by the server. If required, I pledge to build a stronger presence within this community. Here are some characteristics of myself. Trustworthy I am a trustworthy person. I can be trusted never to abuse my power for the sake of personal benefit, convenience or for the sake of making friends. Rather, I can be trusted to use my power that has been entrusted by the admins, staff and players in order to make sure that the server becomes a better place for all. Integrity I am a person that has integrity. I will never use my power in order to lie to others. I will never deny players their rightful assistance that a moderator must give at all times to players. Kind Don't get me wrong here, I am not a kind person as in someone who will be overly lenient in dealing with those who flout the rules. Rather, I am a person that is kind in order to share my knowledge with other players in order to help them out with complicated topics. I am more than willing to donate my items to other players in order to make sure they have the stepping stones to become a successful player. I fully understand that I must dedicate my help elsewhere instead of giving out items as a moderator, hence I hope that my kindness will be able to surface as well with helping other players deal with offences committed against them. Honest I find that honesty, is, perhaps one of the best characteristics of me. If I cannot do something well or properly, I will admit that I am incapable of completing such a task. I try as much as possible not to lie to others, especially when with people of higher status. If I am a Moderator, I would definitely use my honesty and make sure I do all my tasks to the best of my ability. How long can you be active on the server every day? I admit that there are other candidates who can be more active than myself, however I promise to become more active as a moderator. I understand that I cannot be on the server all the time, and like everyone else, we all have other commitments. I also admit that I need time to study for my exams. However, when I have few commitments, I promise to dedicate more of my time into helping this server than when I would have commitments. Listed below is the amount of time I am able to spend each day into helping the server with commitments. Monday: 2 hours Tuesday: 2 hours Wednesday : 2-3 hours Thursday: 2 hours Friday: 1 hour Saturday: 4-5 hours Sunday: 3-4 hours Do you have any past experience as a moderator? For about 7 months, I had been a Moderator on a small server which shut down a while ago due to payment problems. Yes, I know that there are many others who have had more experience as a Moderator than myself, especially in handling a large server, which is relatively new to me. However, there is always a first time for everything and I feel confident that I can handle a large server. My experience on the small server stated above has left me with the skills of how to deal with players, how to handle arguments in a peaceful manner and more importantly, the commands given to a Moderator. I know how to use commands such as /kick, /ban, /mute etc. I am slightly unfamiliar with certain commands within the Forums, hence I would require some assistance from a staff member. However, I am a fast learner and I am confident that I will be able to master the commands as soon as possible. Thank you spending your precious time into reading through my moderator application. The same school you we are in, has taught you beautiful values that you have consistently applied in game. You were with me, serving the community of skyblock, helping in every way possible to solve griefs, help other players, ressolve queries, et cetera. You have never been rude, or turned down any player before. You are one helpful man, in serving the last, the lost and the least. This application does not deserve a support, but more than that.
