    Welcome!
If you're here, it must mean you need advice.
This thread will contain my personal expectations and standards when it comes to staff applications.
    and more!

    A few things before I begin;

This is not an official guide, format, etc., for this forum.
You are not expected in any way to adhere to this.

These are my opinions on how applications should be presented,
although some of it is common sense.

Yes, I know there are a few of these already,
but I was compelled to create my own.

This was not made to promote myself in any way,
rather to help people in making their own applications.

If you choose to use this, I do not expect credit.
This is for anyone to use, for anything except copying.

    1.
The Purpose of your Staff Application!

An application's sole purpose is to convince someone to hire you.
It is to show someone that you are capable of handling what they have to offer you,
and that you can ultimately help both yourself and the employer.
Your application should include basic things about yourself.
Detail is important, but too much isn't that great.
The goal of it is to impress whoever may be reading it, not give them your life story.

This section is a bit short, but if you read all of it, you'd know why.

    --------------------------------------------

    2.
    Each Application Section Explained.

    Your in-game name:
There is not much to this section, but it is just as important as the others.
You should include your current username, and your previous usernames.
You should not include how you thought of your username, what it means, etc.

    Which time-zone are you in?
A server this big requires the activity of all staff members to encompass the entire day,
so that the server is always under control and being monitored.
Your time-zone will allow for other players to get an estimate as to when you will be online.

You should include the abbreviation of your time-zone, if there is one, and your time-zone fully spelled out.

You should not include where you live specifically, when you moved there, etc.

    Which languages do you speak?

Again, this is a large server- not all users will speak English.
It is not required to know any other language besides English, but the more you know, the better.

You should include your main language, and other languages you understand fluently.

You should not include languages you only know a few phrases in, or don't feel comfortable using.

Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?)

Your answer to this question can decide your whole fate.
If you have recently been punished for a legitimate reason, it is advised you wait a short while before applying.
If your answer is no, include a simple statement such as, "No, I have not been banned."
Should your answer be yes, either wait, or include an apology
after you have appealed/endured the punishment.
If you have been punished accidentally, just say that you have been banned, and
then explain that it was accidental.
You should include a definite answer, and an apology if applicable.

You should not include anything along the lines of, "Yes, I have been banned, but it wasn't my fault."

Why do you think you should be a mod?

This is the most crucial section of your application.
You should put your absolute best effort into this part, and make sure it is pristine.

You should include at least three paragraphs which explain your qualifications to be a staff member,

a small list of your best traits, and anything else you feel might be beneficial.
You should not include anything about how much you have donated, how actively you may or may not help already in-game or on the forums, or anything that may appear as bragging.

How long can you be active on the server every day?

This section should contain nothing more than a basic chart.
If you are adding anything else, make sure it is short.

You should include a good estimate in hours for how long you are able to play each day of the week.

You should not include any incorrect times, as activity on the server is a big part of the job.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?

Don't get discouraged if you don't have any previous experience, it's alright!
If you do happen to have it though, be sure to only mention your best accomplishments.

You should include any times you have been a moderator or above on a server(s).

You should not include any times where you have been demoted for a serious reason, and you should not
say anything along the lines of, "I helped this server grow," or "They wouldn't be anything without my help."

    --------------------------------------------

    3. Basic Formatting and Organization.
How your application looks can mean quite a lot.
Making it appealing to the eyes goes a long way if you do it right!

Make sure the size of your font is not too small, and not too large.
Be generous with color, but don't color entire blocks of text - leave them black or dark gray.
Use bullet points to list specific small details.
Punctuation and grammar is key to showing that you can keep the server looking professional.
Stay on topic - if you are explaining one thing, finish, and then move on.
    Quality will always overrule quantity.

    4. Revisions, Proofreading and Submitting.
If you think your application is ready to send in, wait.
Before finalizing it, read it over yourself, and have a few friends read it also.
They may notice mistakes that had gone unnoticed, or have suggestions.
Proofread your application and make sure there are as few as possible grammatical errors.

Take one last careful look, and you're ready to submit it!

    --------------------------------------------

    5.
    What do I do Now?
Well, now that your application has been posted,
it's time to start collecting feedback and making your application known.

To begin, include a link to your application in your signature, and post it once on your profile.
Don't expect anything substantial to happen immediately, as there are tens of applications being looked over,
both by the general community and by the staff.
When you do get a reply, though, simply give it a rating if it only says things like support/no support/neutral, etc.
If a reply has ways you can improve your application, try to reply to as many of those comments as you can at once.
It will clutter the application if you reply to each comment individually.
One of the easiest mistakes you can do unintentionally is to over promote your application.

Keep your application out there, but don't make it look like it's the only thing you're focused on.
