Prompt: Describe one time when you were brave.

Winner gets 1 Diamond, it can be short or long, doesn't matter, I'm picking my favorite.

    Goodluck! :p

    I almost died.

It was the earliest memory I had as a child, completely oblivious to what was going on around me. I constantly went to my mother asking for guidance, asking, "Mommy, what does this do?" She was the one who really taught me what it meant to be safe and how to save. She always had a lot of trust in me, but I didn't know the limits to what I could do.

"Mom, I'm going to ride my bike!" I said and then ran out the door. The door slammed behind me as I ran through it, leaving the wind that caused the curtains to sway. Although I was only five, I still had training wheels on and could barely ride a bike. After grabbing the bike from the shed we had in our backyard, I opened the fence gate and tried to avoid the mud pit that was always in the way. I always have wondered about the mud pit–why it was there.

I bike down the driveway onto the sidewalk, not knowing the difference between a brake and a pedal. The driveway was leading up to our house on the hill, so it was at a 45-degree angle when I went out. This was the first time that I went out by myself with no parent near. As I biked down, or rolled down, rather, I couldn't cause the bike to slow down in any way. It kept going as if it had a mind of its own, which I know is preposterous to even think of now. I jumped off the bike a second before the bike had gone into the street, and I hear a CRASH noise. There was a car that was oncoming and driving at 40 miles an hour through the subdivision, causing the bike to fly up into the air and towards my direction. The sun was shining, and, consequently, the shadow created by the bike was right above me. Somehow, my brother was right there, so I covered him with my body, causing my back to break.

And that's the earliest memory I have, but it won't be forgotten anytime soon.

    Fictional story, DIDN'T ACTUALLY HAPPEN

I think this is still open...?

Well, when I was somewhere around 7-8 I was in a car crash with my father and little sister. I was in the front at the time and the car that was twice as tall as our little convertible collided into the passenger side of the car, hitting me and my little sister head on. The impact left me in critical conditions with internal bleeding, and a broken arm and leg, as well as major head injuries. I was on the brink of death before I was sent to hospital where they preformed several surgeries on me, and it took 4 months before I was healed, and 5 months before I was allowed to go back to school. For the first 2 weeks I was in a medical-induced coma while they monitored me closely, when I woke up I was in too much pain and ended up slipping into a coma myself for another week and a half. When I woke up- yet again- I had to sit in that hospital bed for another 2 months while I was healing a bit, that was when they told me my baby didn't survive. She had suffered from bleeding inside her head and lungs which caused her brain to stop working and her to suffocate. I spent months after that crying and wanting my little sister back. She was 6 at the time. She was the happiest thing I'd ever had and I still cry about her, wanting to hold her close to me while she tells me she loves me.

I can't really write anymore without crying a river of tears, I might- probably not- edit more in later, but this is my entry.

If it's not still open, then ask a staff member to lock this.

    Otherwise:

It was thirty minutes before basketball practice. I was outside with my brother, waiting for my dad to get home. We were so excited because my dad got a new truck, and we were playing basketball. So, this lady comes outside, and I'm just standing there with the ball, I didn't see her. My brother leans over, *says my name*, there's a lady coming and she has slippers on. So I'm casually shooting one more basket, and then I glance over and I see a fairly old lady, with a robe on (Clothes under it), with slippers and pajama pants. So I ran inside, grabbed my stuffed elephant (I was 11), ran back outside with a phone in my hand as well. So we get outside, and she asks us: "Do you want to come to my house to eat something?" And I reply back, "no thank you" Unlucky for me, she grabs my arm and I don't want to hurt her so I walk with her, and my brother does too. So we get to her house a couple blocks down, and then she opens the door. The smell? Oh boy, it smelled like drugs. She asks us to come inside, and sit down. My brother takes off. Runs all the way up the street. And I, (being the 11 year old I was) stayed with her. She said, where'd he go! And I responded with, "Idk I'll go check" so I'm scared half to death as it is, and I start walking back, but she says... Can I hold your elephant? I let her, I don't know why. So, I get to my brother and we take off. I mean running, fast. We get to my neighbors house and we tell them, and then they call the cops. The cops came, and the lady comes out, my elephant is ripped up, and the cops tell her if she does one more thing to us then she's being arrested. And to this very day, I miss my elephant.

    I missed practice too.
