Oh boy I've been waiting for a reason to write a long essay about some lessons I've learned about life recently. I'll have a stupid joke answer at the end if you don't feel like reading my serious one. Ultimately, my goal in life is to make myself and other people happy whenever possible. Over time I've learned a lot of things about how to accomplish this. The number one most important thing I've learned in life is to take nothing for granted, especially your friends. I have a circle that I'm very close with. One of my closest friends has recently started to become increasingly distant. He doesn't talk with us anymore aside from popping in for 5 minutes and saying good night. This has quite honestly been killing me, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't learn that if you love your friends, you'd better make sure they know. Don't end up in my situation. Go tell your best friend how awesome they are. Make your friends happy and they'll return the favor. That said, the other thing I wanted to touch on is regarding goals. Like Awesomolocity said previously, don't restrict yourself. If you want to do something and it's a goal that's going to take countless hours, boundless effort and a lot of frustration, that's not an excuse not to go out and do it. Nothing frustrates me more than seeing someone watch an amazing piano player, or an amazing athlete, or anyone who's exceptional at what they do and saying "I could never do that." We live in an era where we have access to information on anything you could imagine. Fluid and crystallized intelligence are no longer something you're stuck with when you're born. The only thing stopping you is yourself. I'll even give you an example. Quite some time ago, I set myself a very distant and difficult goal. I want to be the undisputed best player in a rhythm game called osu!. If you're familiar with any rhythm games you'll know exactly how ridiculous good people can get at them. The example I'll use is a player named cookiezi. Just go ahead and take a look at him in action right here (warning: twitch chat). I see this and I think "I need to to better." At the time of writing this, there are over 13,000 people who are better than me. That probably doesn't seem impressive until you consider that I've passed millions of other people to get to that point. There are 7.6 million registered players. I've put in countless hours over the span of a year and only gotten this far, and I'll be damned if I'm going to stop now. My point is, no goal isn't worth chasing. You can do it. Go for it. Now, why am I telling you all of this? Like I said, the meaning of life to me is making myself and others happy. If someone takes my advice and benefits from it, I've made someone happy. That was my goal in writing this. For my joke answer, I'm supposed to write something like "42" right? Yeah. We'll go with that. 42.
The meaning of life is whatever you make it to be. Meaning is merely an imaginary concept created by the mind to comfort us, to make us feel like we are here for a purpose, when in reality we'll all cease to exist in the future, and a million years will pass, and all you've done for humanity will be forgotten along with you.
The meaning of life is to be the best like no one ever was And you gotta catch them for the real test And training them for the cause
This both confuses and intrigues me. Please elaborate, because this is one of the most vague answers to this question that I've ever seen/heard.
Oh I actually didn't have much meaning behind it when writing it. I suppose I do kind of think of life as a test though, seeing it from a Christian-backround. For example, it's apparent that in Christianity you have to believe in God, and that Jesus died for your sins in order to eventually go to Heaven and be forgiven of your sins. So, life was made to see if you pass those standards- AKA pass the test. I like to compare it to a school analogy. In highschool, you're constantly being tested to see what college you could be accepted into (despite the fact that not everyone goes to college). School:College :: Life:Heaven. *hopefully that got my point across* You could have that idea with multiple religions as well. That's just how I kind of see life based off of my beliefs.
The meaning of life is to inspire, influence, become and live with others. When you adore someone, you know it's a ticking time bomb to pain. Of course they're going to leave you sometime, as will you leave them. But as you leave or as they leave you, would you rather them leave with adoring qualities that they have inhabited from your personality of optimistic aspects and kindness? Would you rather leave them with so much to give to the next than to be in mourning? In my personal opinion, life is about treating people the way you would want to be treated from a stranger, friend or lover. Give everything you have to give, including giving your all to yourself. Whether or not you are here to see it, the skies will be painted with different hues like an artist painting for the first time after a depressive state, the grass will be as green as your mother's eyes, the shoes you never could fit will fit your cousin and will remind him of you, the clothes you always wore will be held in sad hands and everything you've done or said will be appreciated by someone. Life is about giving to yourself, everyone around you and every living creature. Living a life of hate is a life wasted, in my personal opinion.
You can Google "What is the meaning of life the universe and everything" and find out. It's a really simple answer.
I believe life is what you make it. You have to find your own purpose and meaning that helps you to live on. No matter the circumstance you are in, what things you believe in or how you view the world everyone longs for their place. We were born simply because two beings decided to perform an act. Others are created in other ways. In all cases we had no choice. So we go on, we find our purpose. Life isn't easy. People face struggles and set backs. Some succumb to them. Those who die finding their purpose or die because they lacked it are all fine in my eyes. After all we live to die. What comes in between is us doing something for the world until we become one with the earth. My views may seem odd at first. I just believe everyone makes their own life. And at certain points, we can all affect other peoples lives too.
