Following the advice of some people here, I have

1. Moved some of the "why I want to be a mod" to the qualifications, as it fits better.
2. Expanded on my qualifications
3. Resolved to be more active on forums and more involved in chat (I usually am?)

That's not really much of an issue, since if I'm busy, I'll typically tell you that I am.

However, this does raise a good point: there are several players who will PM me asking for help, rather than posting in public chat, since they know I'll answer their question / problem.

And in general, even if I'm not talking much, working on my island, I'm usually pretty good about keeping an eye on the chat to answer questions / help people.

 

I support this moderator application for the following reasons:

• Helpful, and kind
• Good conversationalist.

 

Support. Just make sure to keep up with helping out online. Most people slack once they start getting support. I think you would be a great mod. Friendly and helpful.

This section actually works against your application by saying you do not handle conflict well and prefer to stay friends with everyone (that you may end up banning). Remove or reword.

Pretend you are Voltron and hook these sections together. Why are you splitting qualifications into separate bullet lists? Condense all of these lists, reword until they sound like a Nobel Peace Prize for Moderation and then pick your top five favorites. Keep it short.

GeoCities would like a word with you about enthusiastic projects, sir. Stating you can help with plugins and then immediately admitting you don't know Java makes this entire portion a giant billboard of "WHAT". Remove or restate.

I enjoyed the personal anecdote, but your history of babysitting your cousins doesn't seem to add any new points in your favor. Axe it like a body-spray commercial.

Have you led a group discussion? Volunteered as a youth coordinator? Listened to a political debate (non-Trump)? Any experience where you handle a group of people and/or mediate disputes would probably help you here, sir. You've put a massive amount of detail into everything else, neglecting this portion is a travesty.

Deaf culture as a whole is fascinating, and most people have no idea that it exists.

Our office has normal phones for the hearing people (5 of us), and Video Phones for the deaf ones (8). People who are Hard of Hearing can get amplified phones or captioned phones through us. And Deaf people can call our normal phones through a relay interpreter, if they choose to.

Interesting question.
If there is a rule, I will enforce it, regardless of whether or not I agree with the rule. However, if I feel a rule is unfair, I will probably talk to other mods and try to understand why the rule exists before doing anything drastic like quitting. My personal ethics are important to me, but I also realize that I'm representing the server, not myself. It would take something very, very unethical for me to quit (from a superior). (IE: if cyp told me to ban somebody just because he didn't like them - no actual reason, or if they started trying to hack players or something)
