With a permanent ban, you can appeal.

Death threats are serious and some people don't understand that.

I support this. Death threats should be taken more seriously, and staff should have a clear way to deal with these offenses (Maybe have steps listed somewhere for staff to follow if a situation like this arises?).

you realize what's actually bad? CUTTING YOURSELF OR KILLING YOURSELF BECAUSE SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET TOLD YOU TO.

for one, killing yourself doesn't just end the possibility of things getting worse, it ends the possibility of things ever getting better.

and secondly, cutting is the stupidest thing ever. it literally does nothing to help you, only makes things worse. it leaves the ugliest scars, and it's just so goddamn pointless.

and yes i know i've done that before, and honestly that was the stupidest s*** i could've ever done with my life.

and about this, yes, I know it's bad, but if you are depressed, you should talk to a therapist, not be on the internet.

but if it's an actual threat, like 'i will f***ing kill you', sure maybe a ban or mute is legit, but if it's a 'lol kys', then... smfh.

    This.
I can't bend my mind around how someone takes a death threat to this extreme level of concern, and then practically 180s the idea by thinking of suicide/cutting. You're going to do the thing you hate so much, that is only words, and make it real yourself? Common sense should kick in somewhere that offing yourself is exactly what you just read and apparently despise.

I agree with you 100% Something like this happened to me, though he didn't tell me to kill myself. it was still really scary. Sometimes /ignore doesn't help

    I don't understand this thread.
Yes, death threats are a problem, but seriously? It's a game.
    Okay, let me explain this to you guys. If someone says "Go kill yourself" in a GAME will you do it? No, and if you do, that's just plain stupid. If someone in a game with you said "Hey, meet me behind the Walmart near Manhattan, New York, so we can go rob a bank", would you follow them? No, you wouldn't. Now, no matter how dumb you think you are, I can guarantee that some other people don't feel the same about you. At least one person out there has to like you, and if someone supports you, then you're never truly alone. Listening to people on the internet and doing things based off of stuff that was said by people you don't know clearly shows that you have no self-reliance, and everyone does, somewhere, deep down inside them, whether they know it or not. Besides, you shouldn't get worked up about a stupid thread from some guy or girl you have no clue who is. You won't be shaking with tears hard enough to type /ignore <player>, or to simply just shut off your computer. Come on guys, it's a game, not real life. Now, I know you all are stronger than this, so just ignore them, go do something productive in real life, and come back online later, when this person left. A personal saying that I live by, among other sayings, is "Unless criticism is either constructive or assistive, then ignore it. There's no point in listening to something that matters nothing. I'll only partial support this because I can see how it may help in very rare scenarios. but as I said before;
You all are stronger than this. I know it.

I know it's been said, but /ignore is really there.
I've seen a lot of it myself, and have had it told to me a few times, but I tend to ignore it because these players are just simply someone online that are just looking to have a bicker at. I believe more punishment should be added into it, but the mods should know if a player is telling another player to go kill themselves, that counts as disrespect and can ever follow under the common sense rule. Having it be more enforced into the rules and it being more descriptive is something that should be implemented. I don't think having a perm-ban is fair, I think a temp, or a mute, and if the player repeats the offence over and over, toss him/her a perm-mute. There are so many other ways to go out at things other then removing players off of the server, and that is not what a lot of people understand.
When you ban a player you're banning the player in hope they'll appeal and learn from their mistake, not to ban them just to remove them off of the server, because we want to keep players on the server. Yes I understand that some people are just ridiculous but still, I personally don't support perm-bans for players that make death threats, personally at most a perm-mute would suit them well.

Okay, there people get muted and perm banned for this in open chat. In Pm, block is all you can do... Some people have made fake messages so it's not trustable to use /msg's

Support. This is a massive issue and it really should be stopped. I think we've had some kind of experience with cyber bullying and it doesn't feel good. And when death threats come out, it really should honestly be punishable by a permanent ban and a one way ticket to jail. (most people that use death threats are often 9-12 year olds that don't understand what they are doing, they should have a much harsher punishment considering they are talking about something like telling someone to kill themself when they really aren't mature enough to understand it.)

    Again, I see both sides.
If someone told me to kill myself or go slit my wrists, I would just ignore them. I know for a fact that I have friends that think I'm nice enough to not be dead, and that I have people who care about me. Crying and shaking really isn't good. I hope that stops. And childhood/teenage years, are emotional. Plus, if I slit my wrists, how would I play Skyblock? XD As long as you do have people that like you, it's ok. They don't think you should go die. If someone told me they were going to come to my house and kill me, I'd say... ok with me. I'm guessing you're my next-door neighbor and you know exactly where to find me.

    On The Other Hand...

This should be stopped. While "XD go kys" isn't that bad, as it is kind of a joke, but telling someone that they're not worth anything? That's like saying... "You're a waste of life and space." If someone said that to me, i'd get agressive. I know some of you guys are really sensitive with the word "die." I don't think anyone should be killing themself because of some internet jack*** that doesn't know how to be nice. If someone is annoyed with you, figure out what happened and try to find an agreeable solution. Also, DarthBread... you said you don't know why people pay attention to internet threats, well here's the thing... What if ISIS sent you an email saying that they were going to bomb the White House, and that they were already in the air with the nuclear weapon above Raleigh... would you go do anything to save the president? I think people might pay attention to that internet threat? Btw please don't say that you don't care for Obama and you wouldn't go save him... I don't like him that much.
