Recently I got kicked on .org for saying ****. The mods thought I was using foul language, which makes total sense, but I was wondering about something... Say someone just got banned for saying four stars (****) in chat because the mods thought that they were cursing, not just simply using stars. However, they made a ban appeal on the forums and it got denied because there was "no proof" of their argument. What would happen? Would the ban appeal just simply go away, and the player be permanently banned? OR Would the player be able to appeal again, but this time, ask Cyp (or someone else that has access to the server logs) to look at the logs at the time of ban/offense and see whether the player was being truthful about their argument or not?
Well for one, you wouldn't be banned for using stars in chat unless you use it in a wrong context time after time.
You can't be permanently banned for using stars. If a ban appeal is denied the banned player could always re-appeal.
What I asked myself a few times. Do mods have to get proof first before they ban someone? And Cyp doesn't have time to look at the logs. If a mod bans you for using **** i would rate it as mod abuse. Or the mod didn't really understand what the bans are for
Thank you for your answers. Yes, but if someone was banned for using stars that looked like foul language, not just kicked.
That hasn't happened before. If all the user did was use **** without context clues of meaning it in a bad way, they would not be kicked or banned. If they were, the mod would be in trouble.
Well, then whatever mod was kicking me for saying **** as a joke a couple of times should be in trouble...
Not if you were using it in a way that it made it sound like you intended to curse. You also said they only kicked you once. Just don't do **** anymore. Also, I'm sure they didn't mean it as a joke. If you wish to report a moderator, go here: Skyblock.org | Skyblock Forums (Note: you need good proof to do this.)
As I said when you and I was online. "****" or ":}" Is like swearing. But you were joking and didn't actually type a swear word. And it is taken seriously by Moderators.
Sorry for the confusion, but I meant that I was saying **** as a joke, not that they kicked me as a joke. And in the orig. post, I did not state how many times... ;P Sorry about that... It was actually a few times, because when I got kicked once, I came back on and said "I was saying **** not a curse word" (or something along those lines...) and then I got kicked again for saying it, even in that context. I didn't see that at the time, sorry!
