A good way to get more members involved would be a weekly competition. My personal suggestion is, Island of the week. Create a page where players can come and vote on whose island is the best. Also creates more traffic for the website. The winner may get a prize like grass or possibly even a diamond. Helps to get people more involved on the website as well as offers a incentive to improve your island. Just some ideas. Hope to see you guys in the server. Enjoy!

There's honestly nothing stopping you from hosting one yourself in the giveaways and competitions section. If you want an official competition, then tough luck, there's most likely not going to be one since it's too much of a hassle. As for the website traffic part, it really wouldn't increase, plus, I don't think you get paid for the web traffic, XenForo does.
