I think they are from search engines to gather information to add to their library.

They're essentially fake visitors that go onto websites and gather the content and pages. This is how search engines like google get the websites, there are google bots on the forums sometimes gathering all the info.

 

Basically what Tanner said. It's how search engines know what pages contain what so when you search for something it shows up.
