My question is what determines whether a person's moderator application is successful, does Cyp choose alone? Or do the "Support"s and "No Support"s matter the most.
I am very curious of this as well thanks for bringing this up...Let me tag a few people cypriotmerkz Noobcrew @maisaaa @blaq_ Kerahna
From my experience on mineverse, the mods make recommendations, aswell as Cyp reads the apps. On mineverse, he also asks the head mods opinions. Probs the same on here.
Cypriot reads through the application and looks for feedback I assume, progressively observing how the specific player has evolved throughout their application period. If you don't have feedback to give but rather give support or no support, then it's virtually petty because it's not displaying any type of feedback or ways the player can improve. From what I've seen historically, CypriotMerks currently hand-selects the players he wants to become moderators; however, in the past he has asked trusted and more "befriended" moderators to introduce or select a moderator. Personally, I've never seen anyone be asked if a player should become a moderator and for feedback regarding that player; but then again, maybe he's not asking me.
There have been times in the past where Cyp's asked for input. He probably still does, but it's always been only to players he's very close to. It's not like he creates a public poll or anything lmao. The only reason my app was ever accepted was due to Kato suggesting it in the first place.
The real question is why mine hasn't been accepted yet XD hahahaha....heh... :c (Jk) In any case, there are probably a little more details to Lemo's lengthy, but covering, text. As far as Cyp, I'd think there's factors such as maturity level as well as how loose they can be. Also, how lenient they are, what are they lenient on (items or actions), etc. Other factors probably include time on server, helpfulness to mods/other players, and to an extent maybe even grammar. (Though I doubt that one very much) Honestly, it's like a boss choosing managers, would you rather have the trained one that everyone loves or the stuck up one that doesn't know how to do their job right? Hope this sheds a little more light on the corner I saw ^-^
Exactly how everyone else has been replying. He either accepts them himself or is suggested to him on what app to look at. (or you can ask him for mod like what I did; still waiting on that promotion that he promised me a year ago)
Yoshi, a past .org moderator, had told me Cyp reads through the application, ignoring the "supports/non-supports" and sees if the person is ready or not, and sees how they react to certain things. Not sure if this is true or not, haha. But I'm pretty positive he chooses alone. Also, imo, "supports/non-supports" are just a way to say if you need to improve on something, or if you're okay.
I think the support, and non-supports are just there to help to person applying to improve, though they might help when Cyp is choosing to promote people. If someone's mod app is filled with no supports, then they will probably have a lower chance of getting promoted. If they have mostly supports, they they probably will have a chance on getting promoted. I'm not sure if he asks the mods about their opinion, since I'm not mod, so that's up to the mods to answer that.
I think you have a very well-explained explanation of this. Feel free to report this post if you do have more questions, however. It will gladly be opened back up
