Hello all. Sesshoryu is my IGN. I've been playing the past few months and have come across a recent issue. It was after /lock was implemented and island protection. My item frames, 2 sheep and recently a single armor stand would disappear. The location in which is has been happening is in my never once opened Casino. The sheep stay on the bottom level. All 3 of them. They are each separated by fences encased in glass all around. But only 2 of the 3 sheep keep disappearing. I've replaced the sheep 4 times as well as the other things that keep disappearing. The item frames and armor stand are surround by glass. The only thing in the item frames are string. The Armor stand it self is 24 blocks away from another armor stand in the same room, but the other one doesn't disappear. I have other players on my island. 2. One is my roommate who lost their password to the mine craft account I bought for them/is going to college. The other is my boyfriend who only plays when I ask them to. So that rules out players killing my sheep/griefing me. Now you might say "Oh it's clear lag" but it's not that either. I've sat there and watched clag go off multiple times and nothing disappear. In fact, item frames and other armor stands through out the rest of my island are 100% fine and haven't disappeared anywhere else but in my casino. Today, I put a few item frames up and put useless items in them (vines, extra flowers, iron etc.) I got off and came back on a few hours later (eat and go make dinner) only to see a few of the item frames missing once again. (I've not replaced the missing sheep since it's a hassle to move them so much plus the buy the name tags to make them rainbow) Would anyone have any idea as to what may be causing these items/animals to disappear only in these certain blocks? First of all, have you /trusted any players to your island? Cause that would be one way for killing/stealing. Another way is that some people might have set /homes before the trust update (if you were on then) and have since kept it. If so, they can be another culprit. How I would go about this, is to first break the beds that you have on the island. (Which sometimes resets the /home, not guaranteed) and then wipe your /trust list; slowly re-adding people as you come across friends and such. This is what I did when my beacons were griefed and it seemed to work out well. ~Hope this helps! Josh
Thanks for replying Josh! Sadly I have not a soul on my /trust list (am a very quiet player). There are 4 beds I have placed on the island for my iron golem village that never came to life that I placed myself. I went ahead and broke them just in case anyone used them to set a home. Maybe it'll be a fix for unwanted players.
I honestly doubt it's a grief. Are any of these on a chunk border? I know they cause problems with entities.
Thanks for the reply Esablished. Hmmm I'm not sure how to check if it's on a chunk border really. I know it's close to the border of my island. But varies from 3 blocks to 7 blocks from the border of the island itself. and since the 3rd floor is about 10 blocks higher than the sheep as well as 22 blocks away from the area affecting the armor stand and items frames. I'll look into it and see what I can learn about these chunk borders.
This happened recently to me once. When I have an excessive amount of sheep, they'd vanish or disappear. No one is on my trust list and my island is always locked. The reason why this happens is I believe that the server cannot hold too many mobs at once on your island. As for the item frames and armor stands, players can mess and break them without being in your coop or trusted.
Thanks for replying Nocturnish. Sadly I haven't gotten any neighbors really. I doubt a player would go through all the trouble to kill just 2 measly sheep (most of my sheep are kept in a sheep dungeon and are killed daily by me, myself, and I) I did look however at my chunks and the things that keep disappearing seem to be due to being on the chunk border. I have to however test this and see if this is true or not.
Armour stands and item frames are not protected by WorldGuard and players can easily break the glass and quickly take what is on the armour stand. Item frames can easily be broken and the items in them can easily be griefed. Hope this helps
This happens to me a lot. Even when I am standing right next to my items, and there is no one there, the items would "mysteriously" disappear. I don't think anyone is stealing them. So I recommend that you don't place anything on your armor stand, or in your item frames.
Thanks for replying everyone. I am fully aware item frames and armor stands can be broken by players. Thus the reason for my island being /locked. Stuff on my armor stand and in my item frames were useless things so I wasn't terribley worried. I also do recall that animals do despawn to prevent server lag, but I do believe rainbow sheep that have name tags should not despawn. Rather, all the other animals that do not have name tags should be the one's despawning. Not my rainbow sheep. Nametags are a little pricey when I have to make 2 new sheep every time I log in as well as buy 2 more name tags.
I went ahead and made 2 new jeb_ sheep using name tags and made pics of them plus their chucks. Now I'll just wait the next new days/hrs to see if anything happens.
So my sheep are currently alive and well. Athough item frames continue to disappear which I believe is due to being on the chunk border.
