A few years back, a friend & I worked on my skyblock island, & built a castle.
I eventually got out of regularly playing..
When I returned, none of my chests were opening in the castle. (A distance from center.)
So last night I decided to start fresh, but when I did it, half of the old castle is still there.

I'm guessing the world size got reduced, but whatever was there was grandfathered in..

You have my blessings & wishes to completely obliterate it...

 

The island sizes have stayed the same, it's just the Boundaries were finally supported, so anything built outside of the area was in the no-Mans land

 

Cool. So how do we go about removing it?

No harm being there. When your new neighbour comes along, their newisland will obliterate the castle.
If you have any rares in the inaccessible areas, please contact an SMod (dark red) in game to have them retrieved.
