So, I realized something while searching around the forums. You can find out nearly anything about someone's life just by digging around a tiny bit in conversations. I mean, half of you are over 15, so you can obviously take care of yourselves (Duh bbs) but I just found it kind of.. I don't know, disturbing maybe. Guys, maybe chillax with the personal things? Your choice.

    Age is highly personal?
Meh, depends if you're an open person or a more introverted.
Or simply what you care about letting people know about you.

I don't care much about what people know about me. However, that doesn't mean I want random people from the internet showing up at my house, so I'll share what I'm comfortable with.

Some people choose to let people know more about them than others.

    I was too open online.
It scares me sometimes to see 11, 12, and 13 year olds on here talking about where they go to school, posting pictures of their lives (and sometimes even of their IRL friends or siblings), etc.
I used to be way too open on here, and that can go downhill very quickly, just letting you all know.
Skyblock seems safe, but the internet (as much as I sound like an 80 year old woman) can be a bad place. All it takes is one person on here deciding to dox you, then that's on pastebin and the actual bad people can get to you whenever and however they want to. They'll know how old you are, where you live, where you go to school, they'll probably have pictures of you.
Also, it worries me that the common thought process is that at a certain age kids are deciding when they feel like its okay to tell the world online all about them. Not saying all of you or even any of you are sharing too much, but the fact is that it would probably be much better if some parents knew how much info their kids are sharing online.
I mean, my parents finally got involved in my situation after a while, and it ended up being a good thing. I wasn't making the right decisions for myself, so they made my decision for me.
So yeah, the era of privacy may be ending in a way. But some needs to remain, if only to protect underage people. I didn't see the possibilities until it got kind of sketchy, so I'm sure a ton of other people (especially young kids that are literally in like the 5th grade) think skyblock and the internet is all fun and games and this is a little walled off community of friends.
    Just be careful.

I completely agree. My kids may think I'm strict with what they share on the internet but I look back and realize I shared way too much online when I was younger. Never post the school you attend our even the city you live in. Psychotic people are often the ones that seem normal, the ones with charisma. Just be careful! People are not always who you think they are.

    Oh.
But in your opinion, what's 'too open'? Just curious.

Posting anything too specific about school or home location, posting pictures of others in your IRL lives (unless you asked them, which I doubt a ton of these people have), anything related to phone numbers.
Giving out Skypes in statuses or posts where just anyone can get them.
I also wouldn't go too overboard on the IRL pictures thread (this especially applies to younger kids).
Generally I have a rule that kind of follows me in my head.. "Will someone be able to use this information against me, or to hurt me in any way". It works pretty well when deciding to share personal info.

I count you in the group of people old and experienced enough to make your own decisions :p
But it's really the people under 15 or 16 that I worry about on here.
