so a peaceful thread turns into everyone fighting? what has this world come to? this doesn't just happen here, when people try to make peace one person starts a hate speech which triggers another person to come in, then he gets his mates to come in, can't we all just accept what Sleepy said to start the thread in the first place? i facepalm so hard when i see this crap, just build a bridge and get over it.
Of course, but the only way you learn from a mistake is by first recognizing it as a mistake. I didn't make this thread to bash anyone, anyway. As I said, it was an attempt to give perspective to the inexperienced.
I didn't say anything at all about bans in my paragraph?? I the only punishment I mentioned was kicks.E EDIT: I just feel like both sides are over exaggerating a lot of things recently. Skrub is not a mean name, it has never been a mean name, and it will never be a mean name lmao Some mods are a little kick crazy, but sometimes its easier to type /kick then a warning message, I know I was guilty of that when things were super busy. But kicks are not really a big deal. A kick never killed anyone, a kick isn't going to hurt friendships, nah. If someone got banned for saying skrub, I would have another argument entirely for this. It sounds to me like a couple innocent mistakes that will be fixed easily through more experience. Do you not remember being a tmod and making little mistakes like that? As far as you said earlier about the bans not being a death sentence...I agree with that to some extent, and although that had nothing to do with my original post, I'll give you that. In a normal situation if someone shows guilt or the original reason was not so bad, I never left someone banned for forever. But for someone who cares so much about how people feel, and how each player is a real person, with real friends and relationships, you should know there are people who should remain banned. There are people who actually hurt others online, not just in server crap, but more serious. And I don't agree with giving them third, seventh, or thirtieth chances. It just doesn't make sense. So like most things, the answer is hard to define, and in the middle somewhere. (Also so this doesn't get deleted, notice that I flame nobody, and I mean nobody any offense or harm).
I never said you shouldn't ban anyone. I just said you should put some more thought into it: Does this person really deserve to be banned, or am I just in a bad mood?
Tbh that last sentence continuously being brought up is starting to really piss me off. It just seems like more and more of a bs excuse/coverup to messing up. Not to mention that tmods refuse to acknowledge their mistakes unless an smod+ mentions it. Otherwise, the other person mentioning it is inferior to them and they should just dismiss it because 'I know what I'm doing, I'm a tmod and you aren't.'. Wasn't it you who said something similar agreeing to this ^ [Edit] Apparently I never clicked post on this .-.
What do you expect people to do? Interject and be shot down? I mean, even something with that is said with a nice tone on it can be misinterpreted and taken as hostile by someone else. There isn't a universal definition that can separate hostility from not. Just like here, many of the comments could be seen as criticism or stating point and facts, but what happens? People interpret the posts differently. Which once goes back to my point about why people think that could be suggestively hostile should never be said and only sugar coated... People are afraid to voice things so they do it behind peoples backs. So which is worse? Saying the fact of the matter to someones face or saying it behind their back and sugar coating it to their face? If you have a job and continuously slack off, it wont be a slap on the wrist every time. You'll be told to step your s*** up and fix it or you get fired. Also, as I said, how do people act in chat before promotion? They give chat advice and say watch the language, and when they get perms they go ban happy? It's not a mistake to ban someone, its an obvious intention. Especially when people and mods are so childish as to take offense to criticism.
Woah, how am I hating on this thread? I agree with what Sleepy said, chill >~> Also 'there used to be a better time but then it was smudged by the generations that passed' you weren't even there back then, you're 13 o-o;
The whole point of Sleepy's thread is basically this quote posted ^. Mods are allowed to joke without any consequences, whilst; non-mods are not allowed to joke (Skrub calling a friend which is obviously a joke...as an example stated in the comments). Kicked on the spot without any 'please tell me which definition of skrub you meant' although you might say "Its quite obvious what he was implying by saying so", but that would be considered using your logic and apparently only Rules must be followed and no room for Logic. Since everyone must follow the rules, punishments should be within the "What did you mean by the word Skrub" and not use your logic in determining what it actually meant. Thanks to Urban Dictionary everyone may be aware that this particular word given as an example has many different meanings: Anyhow that's the whole point of this thread, and being able to know one's mistake solves half the problem, the other half would be solved by finding a solution to it. Peace.
She never claimed to know; you did. She doesn't have to know what ti was like to know that you don't know what it was like. Consider this an official diffusion. Y'all be fightin' over nonsense.
Only if you let it. I know a lot of people who say, "Man, people suck." No, they really don't. Yeah, some people suck, but for the most part, they're trying their best and you may have just had an unlucky encounter. That doesn't mean "people suck."
Well this got out if hand quickly... Don't do stupid thing = don't get banned. Its just a game. Start button, shut down, go do something else.
That's the thing though. While the server itself exists inside of a game, skyblock is more than that. It's a community. People care about it and their bans, so it's really important to make sure that everything is being done fairly and according to the rules.
I get it dude, I do. I've been on here since 2012, though just be careful to maintain perspective on the outside world. Yes this is a kind of community, though a virtual community can often be a much more fickle environment. The internet has a lot of arses on it so just be sure to protect yourself. After all, you may hold somebody in high regard, though if you take a step back and think about it, do you really know the person? What I'm trying to say here is just don't get too wrapped in it all bud.
