There is currently a bug on classic where you vote and gain nothing. This is really hurting the new players because they have no easy way of getting grass to start off their economic journey. It is much harder for them to get materials and interact with other players' trade shops. I hope this gets fixed soon.

 

Basically voting rewards are not going to be fixed. They're broken but they just got rid of them completely so I doubt they are going to add it back

 

yea, classic is most likely not getting a redo. i know loads of people love playing there but not sure if it’s going to get fixed. I think that since /skyblock and /economy are more popular, those servers will get more fixes and changes. though i do support fixing voting at least.

 

You are probably right, but there are some players such as me who main classic, and it's very sad to see it get neglected for so long, and at this point there is a bug that is turning new players off of playing classic, when it is really a fun mode with a nice community.

 

Doesn't this also happen sometimes on /economy & /skyblock?
I sometimes don't receive my vote rewards. I haven't received today or yesterdays voting rewards on /skyblock but I did on /economy.

Also are vote rewards just completely disabled on /classic or does it happen occasionally?

I feel as if classic goes completely ignored.

When /skyblock was created, /classic was still kept for a reason so that players can have the option to continue playing that server if they wanted to. Even having a couple of players should be more than enough to maintain the server, and if it's too hard to maintain, then just don't have it at all.

It is unfair for players who mainly play classic (and all other players that do too) to not fix these sorts of issues. We were never told that /classic wouldn't matter as much as the other servers, so I think it deserves the same acknowledgment and respect as the other servers. After all, it's how the Skyblock server first began. Taking care of it is the least that could be done, and I think issues like these need to be recognized and talked about.

 

Yeah, the same thing happened to me except I got mine on sb not on eco, from my understanding voting rewards completely broke about a month or a month and a half ago, before then I, along with some other players were still receiving them every few votes. Honestly, I support this fix, as even as it is maintenance that the server needs to keep up I feel like getting those votes helps the server in the long run.

 

If they do end up removing classic, I would be really sad. My island has so many memories from when my friends and I would log on when we got home from school just to mess around. Survival is newer, and more advanced, but I will always stick with classic for the sheer amount of how nice it is to look at old islands of friends who quit, or moved on. The style cannot be recreated even if your goal was to capture the classic feel. It is a place that remind me of times that were more simple and honestly, more fun. There are so many new people too, as a donor I can't not see all the new players. When they need something they just spam me, which is kind of annoying, but it shows that it is not limited to people who have been playing for years. The sad part is that 90% of those new people will leave after having a hard time and not being able to start off well by not getting grass/crate keys to cushion their start. I really would like it to be fixed for the possibility of more people being able to enjoyably experience the classic experience.

 

I thought the point of classic was for people who played it to revisit their old islands, not for new players to start playing

 

I don't think that has ever been announced though. It was never stated that /skyblock was created to replace /classic, all Cyp at the time stated was that the new server was created because of /classic's economy and that it would've been best to have a fresh start.

There has also been this thread, where Lee mentioned that Classic was getting new features. Why would this be the case if Classic was kept solely for memories?

Classic should still be playable.

 

the purpose of the servers could have changed from december 16 2018 to now, classic may have still been generating revenue, who knows. as far as i'm aware classic makes no revenue and the owner is making a loss keeping it alive, but is doing so on their promise to the players that he will keep the server running for old players to visit their islands. i always see when i am playing skyblock a broadcast that says something along the lines of 'are you a veteran to skyblock type /classic to visit your old islands from 2013' or similar so that was always my perception. when the game is really based on expanding your island off of a player based economy, but there is no players, i think it's hard to find a reason for it to still need to be updated for people to play on it. if i was a server admin i would be pushing people towards the new skyblock survival server instead of keeping people at classic.

 

Like I've said above, it has never been stated that Classic was kept just for memories.
In a previous post I've also said:

If they want to change the purpose of the sever, then it should be stated publicly. We have no solid answer and that is the problem.
There are still players. Just not a lot compared to the other servers.

You both are free to start a discussion thread if you'd like or talk to each other privately but this is a place for feedback and input on enabling vote keys to be obtainable from /vote again rather than the discussion on the purpose of keeping the classic server as a whole.

 

It is technically on topic & very relevant to the suggestion itself as fixing the bug is in relation to maintaining the server as a whole & OP talked about other issues regarding classic as well, but sure we can focus solely on the voting bug.
