I think if you limit the max render distance you can remove some of the lag

Changing the render distance won't do much, because it's a plugin that is causing the lag. But lowering the render distance can help a bit.

render distance is your personal fps, it doesnt affect the server as chunks are still loaded

 

Yeah, sadly it's server lag and not client lag, therefore there's nothing we alone can do about it other than try to optimise as much as possible. This will never eliminate the server lag though

This isn't really a "suggestion" in the sense we use it, so maybe this belongs in discussions?
