Love the server but there's just one annoying thing. (Well apart from the stupid trades offered :p)

Lots of the time the server is running at full or very almost full capacity, in fact the lowest I've seen the server at is 239 slots full!
There have been many times that I have come to log on and have to refresh for a few minutes before I finally manage to connect :(

So I was thinking, what with how popular this server is, that it would be a good investment to get extra slots for the server, perhaps an extra 50 - 150?

    Thanks
    Iain

This will not be practical because the server is already having trouble dealing with the 250 people that are connected to it at once. You can see that with the low TPS. Noobcrew also one time took off the 250 cap to see how many people can connect to it before it crashes. It was over 400 people.

The problem isn't with the server he is hosting from. It's with bukkit. When bukkit addresses these issues i'm sure noobcrew will enable more slots.

You can also donate to the server so that you can bypass the slot limit.

In the dark hours (USA time) of about 2am to 8 am (central-ish), it will drop to about 100.

Minecraft network code was never intended for large scale play (eg over 30 to 50, and that's a streeeetch). Mojang has worked on some improvements, but its still inefficient. This is already one of the largest Minecraft servers which works relatively smoothly, and its admirable to keep it running as well as it is at 250. :)

This server is not citi-build... they have a different host server, internet connection, etc. They also don't have the plugins we have. You can't compare an entirely different server to this one. This is skyblock. That isn't.

The network architecture does not scale linearly in minecraft. Im not familiar with citi-build, but they will have done something to address using a band-aid to mask the traffic problems. At 750, i seriously doubt they are using bukkit. Maybe a custom canary or bare, i might look into it of curiosity later :).

citi-build has 3 different servers hosted on 3 different machines with a 250 slot limit on each.
I'll try and open more slots, but I cannot simply buy better hardware for the server to do so, when I already have nearly the best you can get.

I'm just wondering... with the donations/ purchases that already help fund this server with 250 slots... you think it's practical to invest in another server and do what they are doing (don't know its technical name)?

I have thought of this, as almost all large servers do this now. But it wouldn't work out well as our server is only skyblock, and having 2 worlds technically, will just confuse people as their skyblock is in 1 of them.

I do remember you limiting it to 300 once.

Also, there is that one donor200 who is willing do donate 1000 Pounds. You could easily get a good server for that.

I personally think 250 is a really good number, its a balanced and even amount so that crashes wont happen often and if there was more i think i would freak, too much lag i say lol.

I think he's saying he'd donate that much just to get attention. I doubt he would do it. Never believe anything till it happens.

Well, I have to agree with you on that.

But, I have talked to him for two hours on Skype and he seems pretty intent on doing it.

He's a pretty nice guy and the post he made earlier had no real purpose.

If he wants to do then what the hell is he waiting for? Why attract so much attention? When I was a little boy people used to do these types of things for attention. Sorry, deliver first then talk.

    Talking big is pretty easy.

Although, I think the reason he wanted to donate so much is because this is such a large server.

He already donated $200, so that has to say something.

I want to see him donate the 1000 bucks first then he can go talk all he wants about how he donated that much.

1000 British pounds sterling = 1624.8000 US dollars

    That's a quite a bit to donate...
