'Fix' sand/gravel generators

    In 1.4.4/1.4.5 (not sure) the Bukkit team decided to 'fix' sand generators. Falling sand entities used to leave the block behind until the sand entity stopped falling. When the entity stopped falling the old block would be removed, and a new one created on the new spot.

    I don't know if sand generators are actually approved or just 'allowed', but it does make it a lot easier for people to build their island if they can have sandstone. Sand generators tend to work a lot quicker than cobblestone generators, and allow to to be afk while your inventory gets filled.

    As Bukkit is just a server wrapper it shouldn't actually change the way the game works, but in this case it does. So I (and many other people I know of) feel like this shouldn't have been 'fixed' by Bukkit either.

    There is a plugin that counters this patch. Quite a few servers use it, and I'd love it if Skyblock did as well. As all generated items can't be traded there isn't really a downside, apart from possible lag if people massively build them. But they're quite expensive so I doubt it'll be noticable.

    Agreed that sand generators are almost a necessity without a good villager trade system. This is a 300+ active user server, we need more things to do. Skyblock was originally intended as a "play for 3 hours and leave it" type of game, but implementations like the access to iron, and diamond helped to keep the skyblock experience fresh for longer.

    I feel like sand is another step up. 2 glass for 1 grass is ridiculous for building an island.

    Tl;dr: Fix sand generators, so we have more blocks to build with.

    i agree sand/gravel gens need to be fixed.

    I'm enjoying the server now it's slightly less laggy.

    Lag is indeed a reason not to allow this. But there could be a rule against fully automated sand generators running while afk. As long as you need to flick a lever or push a button lag won't be an issue.

    lol i would like sand/grav gens to be usable again i built one in hopes of having more sand to grow sugar on. after i built it found out they dont work :(
