Ok, so I was recently reported for doing 1 fake message in chat.(Yes, I am sorry for this and regret my decision to do so ) Whilst I wasn't warned, kicked, muted or banned, it did annoy me that such a stupid rule existed. So, I did /rules in game: no mention of fake messaging being against rules. However, I was informed by a friend that those rules are outdated and not 100% correct, so I took a look at the forums rules. This is every rule on there: Staff Disrespect: (1-3 day automatic ban) Chat Related Offenses: (30 minute - 2 hour mute) Extreme Chat Related Offenses: (1-3 day automatic ban) Advertising: (31 day ban) DDoS, DoX or Account Hacking Threats: (7-31 day ban based on offence history & severity) Releasing Private Information: (7-31 day ban based on offence severity) Staff Impersonation: (3-7 day ban) Ban/Mute Evading: (Ban for the same amount of time as the muted/banned main) Posting Malicious Links: (31 day automatic ban) Scamming: (7-31 day ban based on the number of offenses) Griefing: (Per moderator discretion, up to 31 day ban) Illegal Trading: (7 day ban, for an in-depth on illegal trading look here) Inappropriate Names and Skins: (3-31 day ban based severity and number of offenses) Death wishes/threats: (31 day ban) Player killing (3 day ban) Nick Abuse (Warning then 1-3 day ban if refusal to change /nick) Yep, no mention of 'Fake Messaging' being a rule? Now, I'm being an idiot kicking off and saying 'REMOVE THAT RULE NOWWW', I was just curious: why isn't it mentioned here? I'm not asking for someone to rate this thread disagree and reply like 'It's a rule get over it!', all I'm saying is it's not mentioned here and I'm not sure why. Either this isn't an official rule or the rules need to be updated?
^^^ It also causes spam when people say 'fake message !!!!!' when you do it. It also just goes with chat related offenses.
its not stupid. fake messaging counts as trolling. trolling on any server is bad. what does bad get you? it gets you reported. what does reporting get you? warned/kicked/muted/banned
it also falls under common sense. you know it stirs up chat, that's the whole point in it. and you didn't have a consequence so... why care? you're ruining it for yourself.
Fake /msg'ing goes under 'chat related offences'. It would most likely go under the normal offenses instead of 'extreme'.
Fake messaging promotes spam in chat and then it's annoying for people who want to get on with their things to see chat being flooded saying "oioi fake message!!!!". It goes into the category of spam and chat offenses therefore you got kicked for it etc. I do agree it should be specified more.
