You're missing the point. The Second Amendment is defense against an over controlling government. So yes we would be allowed to buy assault rifles. Why have there been all these shootings? Gang violence, domestic violence. The mass shootings aren't going to stop just because of gun control being put in place.

I never said they were going to stop, I said they would slow down. The government is literally giving these people mainstream access to these weapons.
