I think you don't have to be a mod to support. Maybe the player applying treats greenies different from how they treat donors, or mods. The mods would never know that. I've seen this happening before. The high donors, or people applying act all sweet, and stuff to the mods, but they treat greenies with no respect at all. But this is only my opinion.
If someone has a good application, and they're active on the forums/ server, I don't see a problem with giving them a support. Of course there are other things you need to look at before commenting, but it doesn't do any harm. My guess is that it would depend on why you are not a part of the staff team anymore.
I sorta agree with you, but I mean, if that player is a jerk to everyone, people can point it out, etc, so it can be useful. I feel as if there will be less comments on mod apps because of this tbh. [Not insulting or anything, js]
Yes, people should post in mod apps. Players can give just as much insight into a mod app as a mod can. In fact I don't have the time sometimes to notice whos got the qualities to be a mod. I dont have the time to get to know everyone on a level where I can always give the best feedback. I certainly don't have time to notice who is active, friendly and is doing the right thing. Having other people point things out helps a lot. But the most important thing to note is the player will be serving the community. The community needs to have input on who they want to be staff. At the end of the day Cyp reads the app more than the comments and he relies on staff to give our feedback. So I say go ahead and post your opinion as long as it is constructive, and you are actually putting thought into who you want as mod. Try to always give helpful advice. I would just avoid commenting in your friends mod apps. If cyp only wanted mods to post feedback im sure he would make that happen.
I agree with Krissy. Others can help out with someone's shot at being a Mod. Don't forget, the players are the ones who are going to be looked after, hear out what they have to say.
You're kinda confusing us a bit here. I agree with people not replying to the mod apps just because he or she is friends with the applicant, as well as just saying "support," but then your title and ending makes it seem as if the whole point of this was to just not post in the applications at all. I get what you're saying, but the way you're wording things here is what is really confusing everyone. It very well may also be selective reading, but it also is both.
This is not what I would call true. Without the support of the public players, you don't really know if they are helping or not. Now, this isn't to say that a mod supporting you is not better, but all voices should be heard. This keeps things fresh, and keeps the players who are really helping on top of the application board usually, so they are more likely to be seen than someone who could even have each mods support.
I read that, and what I said stands. The admins don't give support usually, if not always, because they give the final choice. I am sure they are looking for people who are getting more support than others though, and this would be a reason that the common players have the right to give support or not. Whether or not you can take what they said helps prove more if you should be a mod or not. If someone gives a complete lie on your app, and you take it like a kid. You are not capable of being mod yet, and need to work. Common players can help bring that out in the end. Mods on the other hand just look better to have the support. They almost never lie, so if they don't support you, it's for a good reason. So, this keeps it to where the admins can asses a players actions, and all the people who comment, staff or not, help this decision.
The community most likely knows the players more then the staff team would. The staff members are the ones basically watching over the people who post on these apps, so yeah, I'd say that there is no reason for them not be able to comment.
Honestly they don't look for a mass amount of supports, when I applied a couple of years ago I had the most comments etc and that didn't change anything. Everyone is acting like staff members aren't aware what goes on in the community which is stupid lmaooo
I'm not saying the staff doesn't know what is going on, but what I am saying is the people who are on top because of more comments, allows an admin or someone higher to possibly see it, and read it. It has nothing to do that they aren't aware, cause I am sure they are. They just don't show it at times.
