I'm deciding how much I want to talk about this.. eh I guess I'll say that I've never noticed any sexism or anything within the staff team. However, I think at times the female mods, especially the teenage and more popular ones, do get more rude attention from some players. This is just sexism in general, it's a societal problem and not server inclusive. But just in general with females on this server, to me it's always seemed like a huge competition. It's like Mean Girls in a way (except people are rarely rude) in the fact that there is a group of popular girls. It's basically people who have posted in the IRL pictures thread, and people think they're cute or pretty. They get attention, maybe gifts, people want to be their friend. And a TON of them have become mods. I think that it's just like in real life. If you have friends, the community gets to know you. Then it's easier for you to get positions of power. It may be my self esteem issues talking, but I have always seen a defined line in the skyblock community popularity-wise, between "those girls" and the rest of the female population. Disclaimer: I'm not trying to be rude, single anyone out, or insinuate that looks get people a moderator position, because they don't. I'm only explaining a phenomenon that I observed. Yes, I have thought about this way too much lmao.
I hate to agree with this. The vast vast majority of "supports" on applications are completely biased because they are friends. It's the people with no real clique who get supports that should be considered for moderator. Sadly, being well known in the community is the only way to get your messages in chat read so that they can see that you are helping.
And sadly, donor status plays a huge part in being part of the community, and then being a moderator. Becoming a donor gets people those friends, their voice gets heard, they can actually help. The number of greenbeans that went directly to mod are very low.
Lots of people don't want to admit it, but donor rank plays a huge part in getting moderator. Sure, don't mention it in your application, but you won't be seen or supported without a rank. Specifically 100+.
Actually, No. Pretty sure many mods and ex-mods weren't donors and were still noticed. It's not really your popularity, It's more like how you act, how you participate, and how you react to things.
Well, I don't think Cyp checks if you're a donor or not. He just checks your application, and boom. Hi. In which, Female and Male are no different. We're all human, but female can be easier to talk to sometimes, so can male. But in my opinion, the Greenbeans are noticed less. But if you get familar with the popular players/mods, you'll get noticed. In which, in 2014, that's what I did. Most of the mods resigned or got demoted though. I kinda of got popular, I guess. Got many hi's back then. SakuraWolf's a skrub.
Hate to break it to you, but Mc is just a more male dominated game in general, so it does make sense.
Well trust is a hard thing to earn from server/network owners. (Personal experience haha) Every rank comes with more trust from the owners. It's more access to everything and more work as well. I personally don't have much of an opinion whether staff is male or female, but to some females are more susceptible then males, and to others vice versa. It's a matter of opinion on the server owners on which staff are fit for what job. Gotta admit, male staff are less likely to have a week of moodiness xD jkjk but kinda how I see it :3
