I am starting to hate block lag more and more, today I was building something under my island and the blocks disappeared so I was lagged in mid air floating and was kicked by the server for fly glitching. Is there anything that can be done about the block lag?
Server lag is caused by many things. Here is a list I found: - Too many players and not enough RAM. - Too many mobs/items and not enough RAM. - You are too far away from your server. - Too many worlds running on your server without sufficient RAM. - Errors are spamming in your console. - Too many plugins running on your server and not enough RAM. (Source - Reducing Lag on Minecraft Servers - Knowledgebase - MCProHosting) Since I think all the servers have been linked, we may be having trouble with the "Too many worlds" thing. This can be fixed by increasing RAM but I assume it's much easier said than realistically done. As it's server lag, there is unlikely anything you can do except maybe reducing your render distance. I'm sorry I can't over quick in game solutions but using the source link in the right hands, server lag could theoretically be improved. (Take all this with a grain of salt.)
Originally when the server started lagging horribly, not long after the reset, there were rumors of a DDOS attack, however given the amount of time this lag has now been problem I doubt this is the case. HKTV is almost certainly correct that it's a basic RAM issue, upgrading the RAM on a server should be a relatively simple process. Either Noobcrew pay a company for server hosting in which case they will easily be able to pay for an upgrade (this is easy on every game server hosting product since it's where their money comes from), or Noobcrew host the servers themselves in which case it's a simple job to stick in some more ram or upgrade existing. It seems to be since the servers were merged that this lag issue has come up, so I guess it's related to not properly costing the additional resources that would be needed by merging the servers. Anyway this lag issue desperately needs fixing, half the time I can't even access the server due to the lag, I've been kicked literally seconds before a vote party many times, mid auction where I was about to snipe bid, and as stated in the original post just while trying to build. Add onto this the fact redstone machines can't function with the lag and it's a royal pain.
I have experienced the most lag from my own faults not the server. But I do notice some server lag when building, mob grinding and other things sometimes.
Additionally as soon as hoppers are reintroduced you can except a spike in lag due to the massive autofarms that will be built
Indeed. Hoppers cause a lot of lag as is due to their components and since Iron isn't the hardest resource to collect, building an array of Hoppers is almost effortless. Personally, I'd rather not have hoppers back but in Redstone Hoppers have great uses in sorting systems, auto-smelting and even when donating to your favourite visits - also that amazing Hopper clock which uses items and saves having tons of repeaters.
Yup I want my hopper clock back, I have 5 hoppers in a chest and a ton of iron, pistons, and grass so as soon as it's fixed you can expect a lot of sugar cane to come out of my island
With SugarCane there's a simple Piston Caterpillar design that works just fine with 2 pistons, no? I guess you could make a colossal SugarCane farm but bleh - I'll probably purchase some from you because... well the reason I'm on Net currently is to farm a ton of SugarCane so it'd be cool to have some Org SugarCane too
Yeah pre reset I had a large sugar cane farm pumping out about a stack every minute or two when I was on
For me I have a lot of lag from my own island, but ever since banners came out it causes a great deal of lag, plus there are islands that were abandoned that just sit there. Maybe there can be something looked into to possibility fix this.
