Most people not withheld in the easter hemisphere aren't familiar with Eurovison, so I don't doubt her questioning. To put it short, it's an international song competition. American Idol on a larger scale basically.
The Eurovision song contest is held every year. Countries decide who should participate for them. There's semi finals first and then today the finals with 27 countries. This year it is held in Austria as the winner of the last year is Conchita Wurst. Every nation picks the ten favorites and gives them points (12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1). The nation with the most points wins. (50% Jury of every country | 50% tv voting)

Lol, no. I don't really care about eurovision, but man/woman/it with beard, make-up, boobs and weird hair style just killed me. I always thought there was a limit.
well deserved Sweden! I found the russian really cute, the Lithuanian couple was just cuteness overload and Belgium had something interesting hmm x3 Sweden was just amazing. HEROES
