Hi! Today I came up with an idea of a charity for skyblock.net. I think it's a good idea. How I think of it is that if you have a-lot of stuff that you don't want no more or don't use just give it to the Charity! I know a-lot of you are probably thinking "well thats why we have drop partys right?". No, see the thing is that not every one gets things at drop partys. So in that case I think a charity is a good idea! But I'm not done yet! I also think that we should have a charity because some people that just started and island and dont have food can then go to the charity and get a little food. The charity will help a-lot of people in my opinion. Comment your opinion please!
I'm sort of in support of this, at least in terms of drop parties. Often there are huge groups at drop parties, in a addition to stuff in the code that loves to give items to the people that logged in the earliest (e.g. if I've been logged in for a long time, I have a higher chance of picking up items. The only issue I see with this is hurting trading between players. Why would you trade with someone if you received many of the items you need from charity. As I always say, if you give another player one watermelon, he'll never need to buy food from you again. So if the player receives that watermelon for free, they'll never need another. Maybe tools would be a better thing to include in the "charity" as in stone picks, stone swords and stuff like that. They speed up the start time for your island, but they have a limited lifespan and therefore leave trade between players open.
I do support the idea, I'm just not so sure on how this will work while in effect. I really do like to help players who are in need. But there's a few things... 1.) People ask for really expensive items to donate (such as diamonds >_>) 2.) People can lie just to get some free stuff 3.) Few people can just be really "greedy" asking for more and more
^This. In addition, I don't see the need for a charity, I started with nothing, and just worked my way up there. Making nice trades, mining cobblestone for hours. I did not get anything donated to me that benefitted me in making my island or that I could not've gotten without the donation.
