Yes but the thing is violence has been around since the dawn of time. It's just in humanity nature. Guns are just defenses and offenses for the fight. And guns aren't the reason of death, land ownership 80% of the time is

I feel that toy guns look far too much like real guns and real guns can be disguised as a toy one much too easily.

Well, stereotypes don't appear from nothing. They appear from news and events. Look how many school massacres happen every year in America. This doesn't happen in any other countries.

I live in Philadelphia. There is at least one gun related murder per day. I drive through these neighborhoods where people have lost their lives. It saddens and frightens me.
Just the other day, someone shot a child in the head outside of a medical clinic. I was at this clinic just days prior for work.

With recent events in Baltimore, my coworkers are stocking up on guns. They fear the same will happen in Philadelphia. Maybe they're right to be prepared. Or maybe they're overreacting.

I'll just stick to my Supersoaker water gun for now.

My area had the misfortune of having a mass shooting in 2009 that left 14 dead.

Most of the mass shootings and attempted ones are in the USA and a lot of those are from mentally ill people. So there's obviously a problem here with guns getting in the wrong hands. Guns are fine for hunting but you don't necessarily have to shoot someone on your property for setting one foot on it.

Here in kansas, about 6 years ago they closed down the state metal health facility. Closed the doors and sent all the patients to the homes they had or to live on the streets. And with the little gun laws we have here it's a surprise that it hasn't happened yet. We have had terrorist plots. 2 weeks ago I was working on the local army base. They kicked all us civilians off base because they found a person, with what the kid believed was a bomb, just off base. And 2 years ago some kid plotted to blow up his school, but his mother found the notes and plans before he could execute.

I wouldn't shoot someone for stepping foot in my home, now if my girlfriend were staying here for the weekend, and I felt the person was going to do everything he could to harm her and I, I wouldn't hesitate to shoot him/her.

Usually when the media focuses on things and brings attention to events or people, they only bring up one side. Either the good part or the bad part. Not the full story. Example; celebrities. When they talk about them, its either only negative or only positive. I have seen this same scenario plenty. But I am also not saying everything the media brings up is actually good or bad despite what they say, it all depends.

Saying Americans are ill people is pretty much a general directing statement towards all Americans. I do not believe us Americans are ill as a whole. The person that killed those children in that school was mentally ill. I would say 90% of the massacres came from ill people.

I never actually chose, or thought about that until now  I just stated what I thought and believe in. But just maybe so...

my parents own lots. I got a pink 22 rifle when I was 8. I use firearms for hunting and target practice. Listen, I live in probably the most remote town in the us. And maybe when Im in the next grade, I might be able to take target lessons

If you want a really interesting view on all of this, go search on YouTube "John Oliver investigates guns in Australia" 3 part series done by a comedian, and it actually does a really great job of explaining it. Austrailia had a mass shooting about 20 years ago, and over 30 people passed away, many of them children. Up until 1995 austrailia had an average of 1 mass shooting a year. Austraili hasn't had a mass shooting since. So what happened in 1995? After this mass shooting killing 34 people, massive gun control legislature was passed in under 6 months, and it banned the ownership of semiautomatic rifles, shotguns and other large fast firing guns. The act faced tremendous opposition at the time, but now it is often viewed as a life saving decision. This didn't completely ban guns(only large and powerful ones), but it enforced background checks, and it put them in the hands of the right people. I'm not completely against the ownership of guns, but over 75% of the population in the US thinks that there needs to be more regulation of firearms. So why hasn't it happened yet? There are powerful people against it's implementation, and it's really just a question of how many civilians have to perish before it happens.

Don't believe me? Before you disagree with me, go do your research like I did. This is all fact.
