Just a curious thought. I'm and avid hunter, and sport shooter. I own multiple firearms and I'm a strong believer in my 2nd amendment (USA for those who don't know what I'm talking about). Also, I'm not a republican. Just throwing that out there.

So tell me, where do you stand on firearms, and do you own any?

I don't have any firearms, but I planned to learn to shoot this summer.

I'm 16 so I don't own a firearm myself, but I believe we should be able to own them so long as we've been trained to properly handle them and have them licensed.

I'm also pretty sure there is gun control in a lot of European countries and it works just fine there; correct me if I'm wrong. However, I don't quite see it working in the U.S. simply due to the cultural differences. Guns are something Americans pride themselves on. They make us feel safe and empowered. The change would ultimately cause more harm than good, at least that's what I think. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see protests or even riots about it following the decision. Do I agree with this mindset? Not really. But it's not going away any time soon.

I just think they've been abused so much over time no one should own them.

You can say the same about the cooking knifes and any kind of available weapon. Everything is abused.

I just can't kill animals (yes I'm that type of person)

I think that the right people should be able to be trusted with guns, not ones who have mental illnesses and instability in their lives.

I don't own any type of gun because they're not allowed in my neighborhood (law of the county)

I live in an urbanized city so I didn't really "grow up" with guns.

I'm also not exactly an American by decent; I'm Romanian (eastern Europe) and typically MOST Europeans don't pride themselves on guns. I find it to be more of an American way. I never really understood the concept of guns.

We do have the right to the Bill of Rights / Constitution, though. However, younger people (like me) don't have many rights in school from the Constitution for various reasons.

I think gun sellers should be more careful about whom they're selling guns to.
Yeah people with guns that shouldn't be allowed.

This is the kind of logic that I just can't understand. Without guns people wouldn't be able to do such violent and horrible massacres. Before all of these kinds of guns people couldn't just go into their school and murder 20 people.

I see where quite a few of you are coming from, I've been taught and have taught people (specifically 7-12 year olds at a Cub Scout and Boy Scout camps) how to properly handle and shoot firearms for nearly 6 years (yes at 14 I was teaching children 2 years younger than me to shoot). At times I always did wonder if I'm teaching this kids right. I watched a number of kids point the firearms at another child and I acted instantly. The parents in those situations would sometimes get angry watching me kick their child out of the range, but that was my responsibility to keep those children safe.

Also, the part of no one should be allowed to own firearms, our second amendment wasn't created to just give us Americans guns. We fought against an oppressive English government to free ourselves from their oppression. That second amendment is so if and when our government does try to take away our rights.

As for the gun shops being more careful who they sell to, that's a tough one, they do background checks, but yes, sometimes the guns do fall into the wrong hands. Just because a persons record is clear doesn't mean their mind is.

I live in the most republican state in the U.S. Anyone with a clear record can toss a gun in their pocket legally and walk around town. I can carry a loaded firearm in my vehicle in plain view. Do I agree with this? Somewhat. But a person should have to go through hours of training to be able to toss a gun in their pocket.

These are just my opinions, I love hearing your guys opinions! And I would never bash anyone's opinions.

I like guns. I've shot a 22 and a 223 rifle before. We use our guns to shoot foxes and rabbits, which are pests in Australia. We're doing the natural environment a favour. Guns can only be owned or shot if someone owns a gun license. That works well, given you must prove you can safely handle a gun before purchasing one. Guns stay in police custody for around 20 days, so if you order one you can't immediately go on a massacre.
Australia has safe laws around guns. I see no issues in owning one.

    Ya.
    Unless you have a license
If you have a gun and someone (such as a burglar) comes on the bedroon level of your house, you can shoot them and have it not be an "Act of Violence."

The school incident, obviously is illegal.
