Why were you demoted?​

For those curious souls, and for the purpose of keeping this application on-topic and not full of questions about my demotion, to put it simply I was disrespectful to CypriotMerks, our Admin. Not only was this rude and uncalled-for, it was also none of my business. I said things that should not have been said, and I now regret that. The issue being discussed was very close to my heart resulting in some uncalled for insults toward CypriotMerks. I have learnt from my actions. I am simply someone who handles issues directly and in a forward manner, and, perhaps, irrationally.
You may be wondering why on earth I should be re-promoted after being so rude to our Admin. I regret my actions, and as I have already said they were rude and uncalled-for. I don't know what came over me, but I assure you it will not happen again. The underlying message here is: I'm sorry.​

Why are you reapplying so soon?​

I’m well aware I was only demoted 2 weeks ago. The reason I am putting out this application today, is because today, the 27th of April (or, I suppose it’s the 26th for some people) is the first day I ever joined the forums. Once I had, it gave me an immense feeling of connection with the server and its community. The forums remains one of my favourite places to hang out, talk to others and help the community. I believe my issue is not one that will be so easily fixed by waiting, but one that will be fixed by me proving that I can be better than I may have been in the past. If you think I’m reapplying so soon because I’m power-hungry, you don’t know me at all.​

What's your IGN?
​

My IGN is Lycel, as is my nick for most of the time. You'll see me in-game quite often, especially if you’re in my time zone. I was once upon a time known as Loz_and_rach, but I changed my name c; In real life, my name is [removed], but I much prefer being called Lycel, especially in-game.​

What's your Time zone?​

My time zone is +9:30 (ACST, Australian Central Standard Time) during winter (now), or +10:30 (ACDT. Australian Central Daylight Time) during summer/daylight savings. This is 14 hours and 30 minutes ahead of American time (CST) and 9 hours and 30 minutes ahead of English time (GMT). ​

What Languages do you speak?​

- Indonesian (Extremely minimal, 3 years in primary school)
- Italian (Extremely minimal, 5 years in primary school)
- French (Decent, 2 years at High School, 2 years in primary school)
- English (Very fluent, 14 years, with my mother being an English teacher)​

Have you ever been banned?​

Yes. But only once, and only since I was demoted. When I discovered I was demoted, I went online to be greeted with the ban message “You’re an idiot” (to be fair, it’s true). I messaged Cypriot with an apology, and he unbanned me. I did not have to appeal, so whether you count it as a real ban or not, it doesn't really matter ^-^ Other than that, I have never been banned on any server, ever.​

Why do you think you should be mod?​

I know I've goofed up in the past, but I'm sure many Skyblockers can agree when I say I was dedicated to this server, being active, friendly, helpful and experienced. My demotion was really not a massive slip up, and is something that has never happened to me before. I hope it never will again.
Firstly, I have been on this server for over a year now. I initially joined the Forums on April the 27th, the day on which I have made this application. On my previous account, I had approximately 1.5k messages and 700 positive ratings. Only my post count has been retrieved at this stage. My original forums account and all forums content I had ever posted was deleted during my demotion. If you have any doubt of this, you can view my old profile back on the 22nd of March using this link: Lycel | Skyblock Forums. The reason you may not have 'seen me much on the forums' is because everything I posted on the forums was deleted. I can assure you that I was very active on the forums, due to the forums being one of my favourite parts of the server. It was one of the best places to moderate, as it meant direct communication with the rest of Skyblock. Communication is a very important part of moderating, as moderators who do very little and sit behind the scenes quietly doing their work are often, not always, not fully engaging in the community and hence not effectively moderating.

When I was a moderator I talked about the serious issues a lot, as well as engaging in community events. I would always put in my say in events that had to do with moderating, including some quite important and large decisions, and would, no matter the sway of things try to speak my point of view. I am very open minded, and will take on others’ views and opinions, whether they are religious, political or ethical. I may not agree with every point or choice someone makes, but if I have a problem with someone, I’ll try to tell them. Concerning the issue resulting in my demotion, I had just written up a thread about the issue and was considering releasing it to the staff team. I never got the chance, but this further proves my ethic for healthy and co-operative communication.

Now I know it’s the usual blabber to talk about the lack of mods in your time zone, but in these circumstances it is legitimately true. Two of the most active moderators on Skyblock.net were just demoted, me being the 5th most active and Dewmellon being the 2nd most active according to a survey completed by you guys. Now I do not disrespect Cypriot’s decision to demote either of us, but I do see a lot of people online who either need help and there are no moderators, or need help from a full moderator (especially with sign breaking and island re-discovery), and there are only trial moderators online. Some of the most active moderators at the moment are trial moderators, and although this is great that our newer moderators are getting involved in our community, it means that a lot of tasks that can only be completed by full moderators like I was are not fulfilled until the player waits for hours or makes a thread on the forums, which itself may be waiting for hours before a response. It wasn't uncommon for me to be moderating the server alone for hours, in-fact probably more common than finding other moderators online, and now that I'm gone it's sad to see the Pacific Time zone so unmoderated.

At the end of the day, Skyblock is an environment where people of all ages, whether they’re 1 year old or 100 years old, can engage and enjoy themselves. Some may use Skyblock to get their minds off things. Some may play it to be the best Skyblocker there ever was. No matter how you play the server, it needs moderators to keep it a fun, safe and friendly environment. Whether it comes down to kicking spammers, people who swear, or something or other else, we need Moderators to keep Skyblock friendly and enjoyable no matter who you are.​

How long each day can you be online?

I know these hours vary a lot, but I'm being honest. Some days I’ll spend all my free time on the computer and on Skyblock, and some days I’ll spend very little time and practice instruments or art. I am not allowed to use the computer on weekdays until after I eat dinner and do the dishes, usually wrapping up at 6:30. I can then play Skyblock until 10:00pm, or if I'm feeling naughty, as late as I like on my laptop. During the 2 week holidays, which I just finished, I can be online for any amount of time from 1-7 hours, similar to my weekend schedule.​

Do you have any experience as a moderator?​

I must say I probably have more experience of moderating Skyblock.net than a lot of applicants here c; I spent a total of over 5 months moderating Skyblock.net, being a trial moderator from the 5th of November to the 22nd of January, spanning 2 and a half months, and being a full moderator from the 22nd of January to the 14th of April, spanning another 2 and a half months. I have had moderator positions on other minor servers. I am adept in LogBlock, a tool for tracking block changes, and I am competent and aware of many other moderator commands such as /seen, /realname, /ban, /unban, /tempban, /kick, /mute, and many more.

Never really got to know you when you were a moderator, but since you were demoted and applying again, there is a smaller ( than usual ) chance it'll be accepted. Main reason being, you were demoted once for something and they ( owners, admins, etc ) are afraid it will happen again. Meh, we'll see how it turns out.

For now, 75% support since I don't know you too much, but if you were a moderator once, it can happen again.
