Our safest bet, if it's possible, would be to use a previous save file from the most recent date (as long as it's not too far back). People would still have their islands rares and valuables and things would be back to normal. Then again idk if it's possible
Will I need a receipt to get my rank back? I don't have it so would someone need to see me online and get evidence?
i might have some screenshots of you w/your donor10 rank - totally not from the slums - but if you need them just ask
Well.. it's kind of a moot point with a reset looming, but I joined .Org 1 year ago today :/ I think I jinxed it, lol. Well I've spent the last year farming endlessly, saving up materials to build a really cool warp. I can only imagine how much worse it is for Scottie without kit but either way, on a personal level, I'm a bit gutted to lose a year's "work" (still, at the end of the day, it's just a game, what really is the point??). Will I farm for another year and try again? I don't really think so. It might just be reset again in another year's time. I don't plan to quit the server, of course but I don't think realistically my goal is achievable any more I'd rather invest the effort elsewhere where there is less risk of losing my progress, to tell the truth. So I think if the server resets, I'll probably just give up on that goal, to be honest, and just build a small warp, perhaps come on to chat to people occasionally, idk. Generally speaking, I agree a reset could solve a lot of current issues for the server e.g. crashing economy, abandoned islands and 1.8 problems, but would it solve anything long term? I don't know if it would. Pumpkin warps are too OP imo and eventually, I feel the economy would end up the same. I think that rolling into 1.8 would be cool and there are a lot of abandoned islands cluttering up the server. But to lose everyone's islands just to solve one or two things... Well I'm against a reset, personally, because I put a lot of work into my island so far and it's far from finished, but that's kind of selfish, probably. I get the feeling that at this point, the support for a reset is very high so a reset is imminent. So like Scottie said, I guess I just have to take a bunch of screenshots, say my goodbyes to silly sentimental things, and "suck it up and start again". Jeff - I'm against a whitelist, as Cyp isn't on often enough to deal with the high number of people who would be applying to be whitelisted... I mean, it was ages ago that the name-changes came out, and my friend has still not regained her donor ranks/perms, to my knowledge so I must assume he's pressed for time as there are existing issues still to be dealt with. I really think that in order for a whitelist to work, you need mods to be on, whitelisting 24h per day, 7 days per week, or to simply have a "small server" model and I get the feeling they were aiming for "big server" with .Org. Also, to my knowledge, having alts is perfectly legal... I bought one, actually, for the purpose of having an island with co ops on it on Skyblock ^^ Anyway, even with a whitelist, what's to stop people just getting their alt accounts whitelisted? I don't really understand how it would help with anything.

I don't really understand how it would help with anything.[/quote] Yeah they would need to have admin that would have to be willing to op someone and add people daily/every other day. Whitelist isnt really to stop people with Alt accounts, more to tag those accounts to a player so that if they /ban one account they could identify/stop other accounts linked to that email. As it is on org/net atm people can randomly log in with any free floating acct/password and grief or break the rules with no way to track them. There are lists of thousands of avail accounts to do this with. All it would do basically is slow griefers/rulebreakers down, limited value tbh.
I would encourage any way to bring in donations that encourage/develop real life money to support/develop servers, at least I would if I were the owner of the servers.
Still their responsibility. You dont quite understand how much it will damage org to have a white list. First it doesnt look like there will be any new in game admins to help with accepting people so cyp will have to do it all and he hasn't got the time to go through and accept everyone. People just want to get on and play. If they cant, they will walk away and you have lost a potential player and donor. Next, what about the barriers that affect who will be able to join. Language, age, technology. All these things could restrict a person. No white list means they can come in and have a good time like everyone else. Org and net are both public servers. The purpose is for everyone to have access. We as mods have a job to do. That is to make sure that people know and understand the rules. We can restrict players access, that is part of our job. If someone was to get op and be able to add players, this could be restricted by timezone. I wouldnt wait 4 hours or more for the admin to add me, and neither would you appreciate that. Its not like rule breaking on this server is out of hand and we have no mods that can stop things. White lists will kill org. No white lists ever.
I never get the chance to finish my island before reset. Get half way though building it and bam!!!... begin again
If anything, this'll let us rebuild our builds from scratch~ Nothing to mull over and be all like 'do i reset my island or do i tear it all down and rebuild it all over again' erryday - and this applies to everyone who has good Skyblock 101 skillz brb making island blueprint on cracked autocad 2k7 huehue
Lol Arck but this one will be the best one yet? I never even started rebuilding my island, I just have hoarded tons of materials, fail... I slept on it and I'm slightly less depressed over the reset. I feel a bit like Zed; now there is no debating whether or not to tear down my island to rebuild it better, as I have no choice in the matter! ^^ I know I will lose stacks of grass and diamonds etc. but at least everyone will be in the same boat, and I'll still get my kit which will be extremely helpful to get started again, compared to last time I did this as a greenie when I had to farm cobbles for hours just to buy another grass to replace the dirt that CLag ate before I knew what CLag was... My suggestions for the new .Org (sorry it's long, if tl;dr just read the bold): 1. New players should spawn in global chat! Well, I know they tried to fix this on the current .Org but it wasn't working correctly. It would help a great deal of new people to be able to spawn in global chat and be able to ask for help instantly without spending ages trying to figure out how to change from local into global... *happened to me* >.< 2. The "can't talk in this region" area at spawn should be marked somehow e.g. the colour of the floor changes when you're out of that region or a few blocks of glowstone to mark the boundary, idk ... I understand why you can't talk at spawn (to stop spambots) but usually, I just want to warp elsewhere and I can't for a few tries, walking slightly further over and over again until I'm clear of it... It's not major, just a pet hate :/ something visual to see when you're clear of it would be great. 3. Warp rules should be clearly advertised at the main spawn! /warp rules was extremely useful and should definitely be rebuilt! When I was brand new on .Org I'd never been on a server before that had /warp and I didn't know how to talk to anyone, leave spawn or get help. I wanted to find out the rules immediately because it's the first thing I do on any server, and I think this sort of behaviour should be encouraged... so I was bemused when 1. I couldn't find any rules at spawn and 2. it turned out there were no up to date rules on the server! Since then, warp rules was built and I think it was really nicely done and clear, and the "tutorial" area was a nice touch. So, I really think there should be a little area/room directly off from the main spawn that has some basic starter info i.e. the bit on the old spawn that said "do /newisland to get started!" but also should include "Please visit /warp rules" for example. Initially I thought that warp rules should be a room directly connected to the main spawn that you can walk to, but it occurred to me that the large number of signs might make main spawn laggy and that would definitely be bad. 4. CLag is evil! Well I understand how it could be neccessary to keep lag down, but I feel that CLag came too frequently for the size of .Org before and usually took <50 entities, which probably really didn't cause much lag but caused a lot of frustration and distress for players, especially new players, who lost their only sapling drop, bucket or dirt blocks... .Org isn't .Net - there are a lot less messy players leaving things all over the ground I think a 15 minute cooldown for CLag would probably be sufficient for .Org. It would certainly make my playing experience much better, I'm sure others feel the same. Also are there any config options to stop CLag taking paintings, minecarts and boats? Whippy and I made a rollercoaster ages ago but it turned out that CLag was taking all the minecarts and it was costing too much it's generally just annoying, I think it would be much better if these things were not cleared. 5. Pumpkin farms could break the economy again! I think building a pumpkin farm is fine and works well in principle, however in practice, many players simply AFK at them to farm money infinitely. This is against the rules but basically wasn't policed at all on the old .Org apart from occasional tellings off for AFK pools near to auto farms. Many players get around the 15 minute timeout without a pool simply by moving slightly every 10 minutes or so, while they are in fact tabbed out playing another game or watching TV. Farming pumpkins is fine as long as a player is really there at the screen as the farm is loaded, but AFK auto farming really needs to be better policed, otherwise players end up tabbed out or away doing something else while they farm money, and I think it is this that would break the economy again eventually. I think that players seen AFKing at an auto farm should be warned and put on a "watchlist" ... I mean, instant ban is too harsh, I've been at a farm chatting before and received a phone call and gone AFK without meaning to, it happens to everyone, occasionally ... But if a player is repeatedly seen AFKing at an autofarm I think it needs to be punished with a ban because otherwise, the economy will just end up the same as it was before... The other alternative, of course, is to change the admin shop so that it only buys crops that can't be autofarmed, e.g. removing melons, pumpkins and cactus from the sell section of adminshop. I personally wouldn't mind that but I fear there may be a small uproar amongst those players who love building pumpkin towers... 6. Head drop party? To reward old players for sticking around and as a mini condolence for losing all our heads and collectibles, could we please have a one off drop party of a new head(s) (perhaps admins/smods, or one of the animals) to commemorate the server reopening? You could also throw in some of last year's pumpkin, Santa and bunny heads, because I like to put a Santa head on my island in the run up to Christmas, but I realised that if the server is reset, there won't be any Santa heads on the server, anywhere... so it would be impossible Well it's unimportant, but it would be nice to have more than one type of head in existence for people to collect, rather than having to wait a calendar year for all the drop parties to take place. Alternatively, the heads could be made available without the "super rare item" lore from the donor shop for a high price, like 50k each, so that people can buy them for decoration? Then at the drop party, the dropped heads could have the rare item lore (perhaps with the year?) to keep them of a higher value than the shop bought heads. Sorry for long post. I really love .Org and I want to see it become a bustling successful community again I really want to know when the server reset is likely to take place to be able to have a proper goodbye party for old .Org, and also so that I can get in there when the new .Org reopens and get a good island plot near to all meh pals x
Oh and to Jeff - I agree that a whitelist is generally a good thing for small cozy servers, I have a half-whitelist system on mine for all your reasons... but I just don't think it fits the model of .Org very well, with the low number of admins, high number of people joining, and generally the average age/attention span of new players Either way, I don't honestly think a whitelist is going to be considered by the owners for .Org. x
1. That's already done, it's just a little buggy, it works 50/50. 2. Great idea, I'll have a talk to Cyp later. 3. ^ 4. ^ 5. Already fixed this, I know you guys cannot see it yet; but Cyp and I are reworking all the prices. 6. I debated this with mods the other day, so I'll talk to cyp about it.
Resets are a part of gaming life. Stinks, but it happens. I'm all for it. Saves me the guilt of resetting my island with a full coop xD I'd love to see Sugar Canes back as a decent money maker. That never had any issues the last version we ran.
1)1 off drop party for heads and put standard ones in the donor shop, 2)The only way stop eco problems for arising is simply not have a shop, this would then make .org like .net which I don't want. 3) Also I hate skyblock with out a !!proper!!! admin shop containning every item to buy and sell.... I know items like dirt, sand, lava, should be ale sell to admin shop but things like wood, cobble, crops, mob drops etc. Before Reset the mod team needs to go though every item and test how quick some can make money off it. If the item cant be made into a auto farm, then base price of how quick it is to gather and sell them to Adminshop. If it can be auto farm the base on how quick it is to sell to admin shop. with all this work the prices should line up so every thing has equal value in making. it easy tell which items can be made into a auto farm, 1)pumpkin and melons 2) mob drops 3) sugar cane 4)... ones that cant: (assuming no hack clients thou) 1)stone, cobble, etc 2)wood 3)nether wart 4)weat, potato, carratos (if no villagersas they can be used to auto farm them) 5)... Just don't ruin .org again by having nothing in admin shop. when player made shops have more stuff than admin shop, you know something is wrong. before any of the reset I loved the very first admin-shop. (had all items that were currently available ) prices were good apart from certain items which player used to make tons money... So do the reset properly this time, You dont want lose lots of payers again....
