Heyo! My name is SugarCane. People often refer to me as Sugar or my real name (which I will not say publicly; only some people know it). Thank you for taking your time to read my mod application, it means a lot to me! I am open to constructive criticism or any negative comment of any kind just as long as there's a reason for it.

I have been trying to improve my maturity lately. I think so far, I'm doing well. I asked some people how old they thought I was. I was very surprised that people thought I was a lot older than I actually am. Here is what they said: 13, 15, 16 and 19. Yes, someone said 19.... I was very shocked at that myself. I know that moderating takes maturity. I am happy to say that my maturity has improved!

Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?)
Yes, unfortunately I have been banned twice before:

Illegal trade - yes, I know this was a wrong thing to do. However, I'm pretty sure this ban was a misunderstanding because I got unbanned very shortly after. I put some dirt that I didn't need at a chest in Skybase and someone took it. I didn't know this was considered as illegal trade at the time.

Griefing - I have been banned for griefing. This was completely my fault. I griefed some gold blocks under someone's beacon while I was in their coop and then left the island. All of the blocks I griefed were replaced. I apologised to the island leader and we still remain as really good friends.

Why do you think you should be mod?
So, this is the big one, the one where the acceptance or denial of this application will be decided. So, there’s some main reasons I think I should be accepted.

I am professional. On the server, I hold myself and act professionally. What this means to me is that I follow the rules rigidly, and hold myself to a certain standard of behavior and maturity. This makes me a strong player in the server, and an even stronger moderator candidate.

I am a role model. While I make sure I scrupulously follow the rules of the server, I encourage the other people who play here to do so. A clean server makes a happy server, and all the time I have been here, I have been determined to make it both of those things.

I am enthusiastic. I love Minecraft, and I also love this server. I am keen to strive to make this server, and myself better. I love helping people out, just for the smile on their faces whenever their Minecraft experience has been improved a little bit. I want to be one of the people who adds to, rather than takes away from a player’s experience.

I am very kind. I empathize with other people, and love to help. I want to be a person who helps others. This goes perfectly hand in hand with the moderator front. By helping others be better and more successful, I subsequently help myself be a better and more successful person.

I am qualified. This is one of the more important ones. I am strong with commands, and have a “firm but fair” approach to player discipline. I am keen to help the server, using my past knowledge. I believe that this server is going to go on to do some great things.

Respect - In a community, having respect for others is important. It helps to drive the common courtesy and build team building and a positive environment.

Honesty / integrity - It is always best to tell the truth even if you did something wrong or hurt someone. I always strive to tell the truth and encourage others to also. This also means playing by the rules.

Feelings / compassion - In game play or in any community understanding the feelings of what players are going through can help you as an individual help others since you have been there.

Patience - It can sometimes take time to help people with what they need and having to clarify or explain how things work. But with great patience comes great rewards.

Professional demeanor / kind / helpful - In a nutshell this means not being disrespectful and not yelling, or being rude to others. I am always in a positive mood and I want to always encourage this same behavior in others whether in a real world situation or a virtual one.

I would also like to state why I am applying.
My reason for composing this application comprises of several points, all of which are quite simple and straightforward. I want to apply to help skyblock.net, more than currently possible. If I were ever asked “We have a lot of staff members now, why would we want more?” My response would be, “Better safe than sorry.” I said this because .net is constantly growing. This means that soon, more staff will be needed, which is why I am applying now. Why should .net wait until it is too late? For this reason, I began working on this application, and tuning my goal to becoming one of the elite force of players assigned to keeping Skyblock safe and happy. I am also in the Greenwich Mean Time timezone, which enables me to be online at a time when there are players, but sometimes no staff online. Promoting me would mean that a staff member would be available at those times. The final reason for which I am applying is simple, but meaningful for me. I want to further the spectacular experience that our players have here by adding another friendly, knowledgeable staff member to the wonderful staff team. In short, I believe that I bring talents and qualities to the table that would be of use to the staff team, and I hope to demonstrate those throughout my journey here.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?:
I have been a moderator on two other servers. They were very small servers, so I never had to ban anyone. One of them shorty closed and I was only mod for about 2 days on there. The other one is still up but very few people go on there. That having been said, every server is different, and with every new experience, I get better. I am eager to better the server, and hopefully better myself. While I can confidently say I have enough experience to have a strong start, I have much to learn, and I am eager to learn those things. I hope that you will accept me as a moderator, so I can learn those things.

You are friendly and helpful in chat. I don't know you well so that's really all I can say besides Support!

 

You need work. First off I find some of your reasons like "Feelings / compassion" & "I'm very kind" are very weak and not needed. If you are accepted, you won't be trying to help people cope, you have to work with others to find proof, find logs, ban, etc. I think this is a point that only broadens your application. Also, you say ".net is constantly growing." It's not. It pretty much peaked about a year ago and it's just slowly getting less players then it did. A year ago the server would have probably had 450+ people on as of this comment being written. Now it has 217. Also, I like you, but "professional" wouldn't be a word that comes to mind. At one point you were bragging about having 69 double chests of sugar cane. Funny, nice, upbeat are words that I see you in more. Also, you rarely make comments, posts, or replies on the forums. Only 200 messages in almost a whole year, that's not good. In conclusion I think you're nice and could be fit for mod but you need to work on some things like showing your maturity (I know you have it!), and posting more on the forums. No support.
