based on this knowledge, we TECHNICALLY did pay for /nick (donors) and changing your nick to something inapropro is bad.

If you banned for account name it would take a month to change it. Nick abuse is a completely different topic because you can change a nick instantly.

Ps, the only time a was really starts is when religion becomes involved, or a mod gets insulted.

Exactly what was said above. If Mojang will not enforce rules about rude names, then it's not our place to. However regular server rules will still apply to the account.

 

I'm not bothered by "rude" names e.g. names with swearwords in or trying to tell the world that they're incredibly well endowed, whatever. But I've seen someone on already with a racist name trolling the server. racism annoys me somewhat more. Someone could be really offended by something like that. If a player joins the server with a name like "Killall[insertracehere]" or "All[race]are[insertinsulthere]" is that really something that is going to be acceptable with the Skyblock community?

At the end of the day I think each name like this should be treated individually on a case-by-case basis. If someone has a name that offends someone, they should create a report and it should be down to Noob/Cyp personally to decide if the name is acceptable on this server or not.

Imo racism/inciting hate crosses a line and shouldn't be tolerated. Mojang's own guidelines state that any name is allowed because the community will police which names do and don't get you banned. I would hope Skyblock.net and .Org would exercise some common sense in this direction too. x

 

I do not think that the person would be banned.
As far as I am aware, there are no punishments for an inappropriate username. :confused:
