If you change your Minecraft name, you can change it to something rude. This could mean a lot of rude names but no punishments so I'm just wondering what will happen if someone changed their name to That****ingB**** or something rude

 

I would say it's probably illegal, but the rules don't have it in. I think they should, but the name changing happened very recently.

 

It may not be listed in The Rules In Their Most In-Depth Form, but I'm sure a mod will ban a player if their name is overly offensive and/or causes disruptions to other players.

It will be legal, yet still inaproppiate.
So pretty much same as always.
If someone did I would say just to ignore them since it's not correct to ban someone for their username that they paid for.
But the final rule depends on cyp, our administrator.

 

They never paid to change their username, just for the account to play online on the game, I'd just like to say. Anyways you can ban them for a month then after they have changed their name you can unban them, simple as.

 

You cannot ban someone for their username if it offends you. Maybe the player finds it offensive that you are banning them for just having a username. Think of the dolphins.

 

I would definitely find it offensive to see a name such as ****ingB**** floating around the chat area... if we can't type it then we should not be called it.

The moderators know the rules. It's just that more detail needs to go into The Rules In Their Most In-Depth Form. Tons of additions.

 

Orrrrrrr, the rules are as is, and there are no additional rules that are made-up all the time in-game.

We do not ban for account names. They paid for the account.
If you find the name offensive there's always /ignore, simple as that.

I don't think this is the issue at all, I actually think it could be quite the opposite. The Mods know the rules too well and so when a situation arises that isn't talked about in the rules, they don't know how to react to it well (Not all Mods are like this). Mods should use their sense of judgement for each situation they encounter, because even though it may not seem like it, each situation is different and therefore should be handled differently. Yes, I do agree that the rules are the rules, but looking a little deeper into things before carrying out the final verdict doesn't hurt. Again, not all Mods are this way, but unfortunately some are.
