"sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce"

That's the command they showed for xfce.


sudo sh -e ~/Downloads/crouton -t xfce,chrome,keyboard,core


That's the command I used.
the extra things were -e, chrome, keyboard, and core

"-e" just encrypted it

"chrome" automatically added google chrome browser

"keyboard" enabled keyboard shortcuts

"core", not exactly sure what this did, a friend of mine told me it was useful so I added it lol

 

So if those instructions were what you followed you should have Ubuntu installed on your system.

My entire linux OS crashed when doing this..

Now, I can't even switch between the two OS's. I'm stuck in Chrome OS.

I tried going into crosh and doing sudo unmount-chroot precise but I can't because I'm still logged into linux

I was doing the commands shown on that site and everything just froze then it exited me out of Linux and now I can't get back

 

Which command were you up to? What do you mean exited out of Linux? Like did it take you back to the command prompt (shell)?

 

I was in the command prompt for linux, running the commands shown. midway through it, my entire Linux OS froze and brought me back to Chrome OS. Now I'm unable to switch between the two

First thing would be to get back the Linux OS using the steps in the first link

 

Okay... So this is really weird.. It's acting as if I have 4 OS's installed. 2 Of them are completely functional and the other two just show up, I can't do anything within them.. I need to get rid of them all. Any suggestions?

 

Now it's acting even weirder.. I'm able to switch between 4 working linux OS's and 2 more that aren't functional and one chrome OS.. Idek what's happening

 

At this point I think my best bet would to reset my computer and start all over again.. Unless there's a way you know to get rid of them all.

 

Okay, update. I ended up reseting my entire chromebook. We're back to step one again. I have Ubuntu Linux installed, xfce is the specific one. So, we can continue where we left off I guess.

 

OK. That's why one of the steps was to create a back up.
I'm not sure why you seem to have 4 Linuxes, the only thing I can suggest is maybe you repeated the "intstall linux" steps multiple times

 

Nahh, I only did it once. But now I have 1 Linux and 1 ChromeOS, both of which are fully functional. Should I try that link again?

 

Yup, but instead of doing the first step by command line (using wget to download the browser) you can download the linux file from the web browser and then perform the rest of the steps using the command line
