According to mojang, on Febuary 4th we will have the ability to change our usernames.

So as we all are familiar with the privatized doors, chests, furnaces, etc..
Now if we change our usernames, will we still have the ability to access these things?

 

This is awesome~ But on the other hand, kinda sucks too...since all of your account links to Enjin, etc. would be broken, along with most of the multiplayer servers & plugins...also, there'd be players abusing this feature (Ex. Changing their username after getting banned like, 10 times. This way, they won't have a 'criminal record')

To be honest, personally, I don't really want this feature...:/ As for Lockette, no, you will not have access to them if you change your username I think. You'll have to get rid of them before changing your username...

Alrighty...I hate this feature now. :/ If you did Bukkit coding or owned a standard server before, you'd know this - this'll mess up a lot of stuff...uggh

Mods will keep logs of their username changes.
Also it bans their account not the username

Oh :/ I just realised XD I'm a dumbo Still, it'll mess up a lot of plugins based on recognizing the username, eh? What about the SkyBlock islands? Is that plugin based on username or account?

 

hm not sure, never knew about skyblock islands until two months ago and I still need to check it out

 

No, not the server, as in the plugin itself. XD Does it check our username or account to teleport us?

 

Pretty sure plugins won't break. If the banning system stays intact (assuming it's managed by Essentials, as I don't see any other plugin in /pl that can manage banning), then I would assume plugins are safe.

 

But...there's a method:
.getPlayer().getName()
Wouldn't this part of the plugin break?

I believe there's more to the IGN than just the raw name, it may track UUID's of players, which can't be changed unless you delete it (which you can't unless you have console access).

EDIT: eh, alts work just as well.

Immediately log off, change mc name.

Lag back in, pretend like you did nothing.

So even in the miraculous case that logs actually work, the old mc name has disappeared without a trace.

I'm pretty sure it won't be an automatic name change like instagram or tumblr. More likely one that has to run through mojangs systems. Also considering Mojang is now owned by Microsoft, we may or may not get different updates.

 

It looks quite good to be honest, I'm debating changing mine, I just need a catchy name ;o;

 

I believe you have to wait 30 days before changing your username again.

 

Finally! I can now have my username as "BobyFresh11291" instead of bobyfresh11291, it's been bugging me for so longgg, finally I can capitalize it!
