So many "I approve"s with no justification.
So many valid arguments against with no counter arguments.

That's not how a leader, who leads a huge community, should act. It just shows how ignorant one is, and it really doesn't set a good example to the community. Although, I don't know what that inbox contains, whether user needing help, or something else. But I'm sure Cyp is an understanding person, who actually listens to his community for inputs, and helps out in the community as much as the mods do, or at least I hope he does.

Although, its funny how he ignores certain relevant posts/comments, but responds to certain irrelevant comment/posts. Its just funny, nothing else. :p

Cyp has made his decision and has told you all you need to know.
Moderators are 100% capable of handling reports without people commenting on them and getting in the way.
If during this "trial" we find that we need outside opinion from players and it makes our job difficult we will go and give cyp our feedback.
This is not the time to start commenting on the admin/staff.
    Make another thread for that.
    In short:
You are not supposed to post in ban appeals and reports anyway
the community place for giving opinion/help is discussion, off topic, suggestions, help.
if we needed input we would have begged cyp to reopen the report/ban appeal section by now
too many opinions make it harder to handle reports, even with deleting the posts it still prolongs the process.

I might have missed it but I don't know that anyone claimed that we should be able to post in reports/appeals. My argument has always been that the process should be available for the skyblock community to witness as in any decent society. Unless I've missed it, Making this process secretive and whether it's right has not been argued against.

Alright. I just went through the entire thread and...there are a few things I'd like to point out. A lot of people are stating that 'they won't know who to be cautious of'. Well, now that Cyp unlocked the archives, that problem should be solved.

Secondly, people are saying that the person being reported won't be able to defend themselves, etc. The thing is, if they do get banned, they can create a ban appeal for themselves. That way, any misunderstanding or possible attempts at framing someone would be resolved/discovered; while making the job much easier for the moderators without any arguments between the players.

Thirdly, I can see a lot of comments saying that Cyp's ignoring some replies, etc. Well, both sides are somewhat repeating the same thing over and over again...and Cyp already gave his reply to it. It'd be somewhat pointless repeating just about the same thing again and again...don't you think?

Finally, the original server rule was to not post in ban appeals & reports, as krissy_punk mentioned above. I see no reason why this new feature is a problem. It makes the moderators' life much easier, while still allowing us to check 'who to watch out for' and an option to defend ourselves if we ever get banned through a report by another individual (By creating a new ban appeal) in a more civilized manner, rather than to just start arguing in a report. It's a 'Report'. When we submit a report on someone in real life, do we start arguing before the report is even resolved by those in charge? No, the report gets through, gets processed, then the accused can speak up for him/herself or hand in a counter-report.

Thus is my opinion on this currently ongoing argument. Thanks.

After reading through all the posts (yes I read through every one), there are valid arguments to both ways of doing things.

While moderators have the server's best interests at heart, they are not infallible, and adding to this the time pressures of the job and the often easily fabricated and filmsy evidence (or lack there off), mistakes happen too often. As such, an open system is ideally the most suited in this situation. I have always based my moderation style off of the legal system, in order to most closely mirror the justice system that has been shaped over centuries of trial and error / debate. I feel that this is ultimately the best for Skyblock' community.

However, continuing with the legal system analogy with an open court system (like many have alluded to), the players of skyblock have consistently treated the reporting and appeals process with little or no respect. I have seen countless times players completely and utterly disregarding the rules regarding appeals/reports. So many posts begin with "I don't care if I'm banned but I need to say this...", bear in mind in a real court of law the equivalent of standing up in the observers bench and yelling out, possibly obscenities, can and most certainly lead to jail time and/or a fine. Then the banned player turns around and reports the banning moderator for "mod abuse" and the cycle repeats. An open legal system such as the one that so many of you are advocating can only work if the participants (you the players) understand and work within the rules. If this were a real court, half the players would have served jail time for contempt, and a good proportion of the other half would still be in jail.

So, before you complain about the changes made and how it might negatively affect the skyblock community, ask yourself "why was this change necessary?". You'll find the answer being that "the players abused the privileges that were granted to turn to observe SILENTLY the appeals/reporting process" and now that privilege has since been removed.
