Do you think 13/17 types of penguins need attention due to being endangered/threatened?

StrayanPenguin suggested what happens when penguins get cold which brought on this topic.

What happens when a penguin loses its mate?

Penguins are a jumble of 17 different types of flightless birds that live in the Southern Hemisphere. 13 of the 17 types of penguins are endangered or threatened in some way. These flightless birds find all their food in the sea and are carnivores. They also eat krill, crabs, and crustaceans along with fish. A large penguin can gather up to 30 fish in one dive!

Tip: Penguins and any other type of animal that eat only fish are called piscivorous.

When penguins bite into their prey, they have spines at the top of their beak to hold the food into their mouth for a good grip. Pebbles also seem to go into penguins. Scientists believe this is due to helping the digestive system and so they can dive deeper for more fish. Several hours of penguins days go into grooming and maintaining their feathers. If they did not do this, their feathers would not be waterproof like they are. Near the tail feathers of penguins, oil comes from there and they rub it all over their bodies for protection.

Every year, a penguin molts(Loses their feathers). During this time, they cannot go into the water which may result in severe weight loss. Each penguin has a distinct call which allows them to find their mates or children in the most largest crowds. The largest crowds are when they are in the rookeries(their nests). Most penguins are very social and travel in large colonies. Most penguins breed during the spring or summer but Emperor Penguins are the only to breed during the winter. Penguins cannot breath underwater but can last up to 15 minutes underwater.

Enough of all these facts. You came here to know what happens when a penguin loses their mate. Most penguins do not reach sexual maturity until the age of 5. Some of the smaller penguins may reach their peak at 4. Some penguins breed with the same partner for life while others breed with that partner once and go on to another one next season. The penguins that lose their soulmate to death usually never find another partner during their lifetime. If they do find another partner, they remate and go on with their life. This only happens very rarely.
