What happens when you drop a magnet inside a copper tube?

Well, first thing to talk about what type of physics are we talking about today. This law comes from Heinrich Emil Lenz who created Lenz's Law. Lenz was a German Physicist who formulated a law of electromagnetic induction back in 1833. The law insists of when a current is induced in a conductor, a magnetic field is made which opposes the action that produces the current.

So, what exactly happens when you drop a magnet inside of a copper tube? Well, what happens is when you place a magnet inside of the copper tube, it creates a current inside of the copper which in simpler terms creates a magnetic field. The current is opposed and makes the magnet drop more slowly down the tube. It looks as if it were defying gravity itself for a few moments.
