Before you start, here are some tips for using this thread. There will be none of the following: Cat gifs in the rant Random acts of defense to kiss up to certain people Subtle advertising of mod applications Blatant ignorance and/or stupidity Okay, everyone always makes such a huge deal about resignations. It's a video game. It's a virtual title. Here's why at least five moderators have confirmed why they left, (Including myself.) I don't know the specifics for each ex-mod, but I can speak for many moderators who are leaving because Skyblock is quite simply, a waste of time compared to actual activities that impact your real life in a positiveway, not in a negative way. Also, Skyblock gets extremely boring if you play for the Minecraft, not for the forming of lurking socialites. Stop blathering on and on about "Umg, nuuuuuuu please dun leave us (name)-eh, ;-;". They aren't necessarily leaving, just resigning as they enjoy the Skyblock part, not the chatting and socializing. I got quite bored moderating, it's not all that glamorous. Even if you actually have time to build, what do you build? Nothing, you're too focused on chat. Shocker, right? No, I'm not assaulting Skyblock, or pointing the blame at anyone. I just want to voice my opinion. Thank you for having an open mind.
Support, Anyway Nice knowing you buddy hope you succed in life cause you only have 1 to live make the most of it TK
Well you have a point here, as a moderator on .net (I have no experience myself but I can imagine) you have no time to do anything else then to help the players that need you, no time for you to enjoy the Skyblock. (Or Hellblock in my case)
If they haven't said whether they are staying or not, people are fine to say that. To some people, it's not just a video game. To some people, it's not a waste of time. Actual activities, in a positive way? - Actual activities makes me think of sports, stuff like that, what if you don't like/want to do it? Tbh, I haven't heard of a mod who resigned because of 'Actual Activies'. ~
Activities including but not limited to school, volunteering, jobs, sports, etc. I resigned for those reasons. EDIT- I understand some people enjoy it more than others, this is about the people who don't.
Most of the time things are different when you apply from when you resign. You're basically saying, "Why apply if you're eventually just going to resign?" I mean, think about that. That's just... no.
I hate to see people go, I really do. That's why resignations mean more to me than a virtual title. Now. I have a life. I can't think of a better way to put that. :/ I do not focus ALL of my time on skyblock. I do not focus HALF of my time on skyblock. I get on when I can, and when I'm on, I enjoy helping others. If one day I cross the line to inactivity, I'll resign. For now, I'm happy balancing real life and skyblock. And I have met almost all of my best friends here. You don't have to say it's impacting me negatively. I know how much to focus on my real life and this game. With that being said, sad to see everyone go. Good luck with the real world.
Most players thing moderating is a piece of cake.. and trust me, it's far from that. You have to be concentrating and you have to be able to multitask. For me, it can get quite stressing as you'll get the players who waste your time. E.g "Mod! Someone griefed my island" *teleports and watches player break his OWN island* "I just watched you break it yourself" "You're a liar! You're a bad mod!" Not that I listen to those remarks but everybody has their bad days. When I was first promoted, I kept saying to myself "if Livvy can do it, so can I". Knowing she was younger and able to handle the job (when she was a mod) kept me going throughout the months :3
Having experience of moderating, I can say it's not as easy as it looks. There's a chat which you have to pay attention to, and keep in mind that it does go by quick, then you have to help with griefs, scams etc. Along with that, kicking, banning and muting. You'll have to be able to do many things at the same time. When you achieve full moderator, you get socialspy, your chat goes way quicker. You won't have time to do anything else. You won't be able to build on your island without needing to help someone, or some people. When people resign, it is a 'big' thing I guess, but just because they resign it doesn't mean that they have left the community. I resigned due to around 4 or 5 reasons, which I guess were enough~
If u think about it, u dont even need to work for it. For me it just came from my nature. Your personality has to be right, you cant be lazy, and you just have to be active on the server and show that u care about the things that goes on the server. Its not like you have yo study for 9 years to get the mod prefix. Its easy to let the part go when u have realized tht you have done your part well. But still, I didnt work hard on it... I just acted like myself back then and thats what got me the job .
There comes a point in time when it's best to let someone else take your place for the good of the server.
There was a few times I thought about resigning as well. I probably would have resigned near when school started if I hadn't been demoted.
Good news? I haven't thought about resigning. Bad news? If school keeps up the way it is, I'll be demoted soon anyway o.o I haven't done really anything for almost the entire 2 weeks .-.
I actually quite like everyone on skyblock, and I play for the people, I became a mod for the people. I want to help them and care for them. I understand why people play the game. Most just want to get away from what's at home. I resigned because the conditions were not fair for players, and I wasnt going to support a system that was corrupted and counter productive. I love you guys very much, and helping you all is probably one of the most wonderful experiences in my life.
