Okay, so before I begin, I want to state that I in no way am blaming this on the mods or anyone really. I'm curious to see how many people this has happened to recently, as I have seen more "no log" griefs recently. My story. My brother let someone home on our island, long story short, they griefed my spawner and beacon. My beacon is gone, and Akrill says there are no logs. The person was spawned due to there being logs of the spawner being destroyed, but I still feel like somethings up with the logging system. How could there just be a blank. If this was a one time thing, just me, I would understand more, however, my case is not the only I've seen. I have seen at least two other cases where there were no logs. I would like to know if there is any hope for refund for ones without logs, (yes I have screenshots of my beacon before and after) and why this is happening. If you have a similar experience, any input, or thoughts and ideas, please comment. I really am just curious about this. Please don't tell me I should have privated my beacon....I know already. I wasn't expecting anyone else added to my island that I don't know IRL, so what my brother did was a complete surprise. No, I will not be adding anyone else, and after a talk with my brother, neither will he. EDIT: I am getting my beacon refunded. I believe it is a personal refund from Akrill Thank you so much!
Well I'm poor, so this beacon meant a lot to me. It was my first "big" purchase. My first real valuable item. And now it's gone, and evidently I cannot get a refund. .-.
I might try again on the logs, though I think both Akrill and Sleepy have logged mine to no avail. They need to try to sort it out.
I know someone who lost 5 beacons and some iron blocks without any logs. Fortunately, the griefer broke a pane of glass, which was loggable and they confessed to the beacon stealing.
Well I will be keeping an eye to see if the player who griefed me makes an appeal, and if he does I will be asking some questions
Well, there was a very major problem with this before where many people were griefed and/or looted (I was one) and there were no logs whatsoever, hopefully this won't happen again
CoreProtect is by far the better plugin. I've used it on my server, it's invaluable to staff of ANY type of servers.
The only issue with CoreProtect is that it gets slower and slower as the amounts of data increase. "No problem with a MySQL database?" I hear you saying. It is. CoreProtect sadly logs almost everything possible to ensure 100% accurate rollbacks and rollforwards. Even A MySQL Server handling the data, especially on a big server, will get slow and inefficient. LogBlock and older versions of HawkEye only store block and item data to a certain extent unlike CoreProtect which stores chat messages, entities, lava and water flows, etc. The problem that LogBlock sometimes drops data is most commonly caused because it is linked to an external database like MySQL. Especially at times with a poor connection established between both servers, or as well at times where data transfers exceed the transferlimit, LogBlock will sometimes abort transferring a packet. Please note that these might be reasons and not necessarily are the reasons for data gaps.
I've lost beacons and valuables because of this and if there aren't logs, it's something you just have to live with. There isn't anything that can be done about it so there isn't really any point in dwelling on it.
I understand.Just wanted to see who else has had this happen and what people thought might be causing it.
Well, I have a pretty different case that makes 100x less sense. My beacon has logs of being places, as everything does, but... it is invisible. My beacon literally just disappeared without having any logs of being destroyed. The logs say "FirstCelestrian placed a beacon" and some other stuff (lol), but the beacon is clearly gone, without having any record of being destroyed. How can something be placed but never destroyed and go missing?
LogBlock, unlike CoreProtect, does not create logs when performing a rollback. Meaning a bunch of stuff can go missing without any logs tracking the actual removal by a rollback. I can't think of any other possible explanation here.
