You can't expect a moderator to be perfectly fast and efficient, if these people did not get kicked. You have to keep in mind that there are no notifications in chat that show when someone is kicked or banned, and this is because we believe this is not information that is required to be given to everyone in the skyblock chat. Just as Keeper said, some people have fast computers and are easily able to rejoin the server after being kicked. On a side note, you might have been kicked because you mentioned those two words in the first screenshot. Restating/quoting those previously mentioned words, that are considered inappropriate, doesn't help make the server more appropriate for smaller children. All that does is increase the possibility of smaller children seeing the words.
Majority of the player base are teenagers. You want to know why you were kicked? Because the lgbt topic is sensitive. And we don't want arguments in chat. The server is mean to be kept g rated. But enforcing that it harder than it seems. As while we are moderating chat, we are helping investigate griefs, being asked questions, resolving conflicts and various other things. If we were to kick everyone who gets a bit pg, we will be missing the more important matters. What we don't tolerate is swear words (pretty much any racist words as well) and people asking for sex and foul things like that. Anyone swearing in ur examples would have been kicked, or reported. The other people were not out of line, and it was a small pg joke. Like exas said there are far worst things I've seen in g rated things, and most are subliminal. If you are concerned about the language of certain members feel free to report them and we will see how bad it was and how it could be affecting children. Generally though, we aim for g and nothing worst than pg will get through.
Discussing gay rights is like discussing religion, no matter what people are going to disagree.. it's something we just got to deal with.
Maybe some time in the future, people will begin to see an alternate perspective on the subject of LGBT rights, and they'll understand that people who are LGBT are born this way and that it can't be undone. Personally, I support LGBT rights. I believe that people aren't only able to be born with a heterosexual orientation. Homosexuality, bisexuality, asexuality, and etcetera are all possible orientations for a person to be born with. For now, however, we just have to deal with the people who don't agree with this, no matter how ignorant we think they are. This isn't to say that in the future, people like this won't be around though. I've seen people who still support the Confederacy -_- It's absolutely ridiculous. And as Zambiana said, it's a sensitive topic to most people and bringing up the subject could cause an argument, or flame war, if you will.
It all comes down to whether or not they're joking, and who takes it badly at the time. I was actually on when all this happened, I remember you saying, isn't this server supposed to be G-rated. The "now tongue each other" message was at my wedding actually Anyway, I believe somewhat in what you're saying, like talking about gay rights should never result in a kick, mute, or ban, (unless it's starting arguments, I'm saying there should never be discrimination..) and yes, I think some of this should be toned down, but also, most of the time they're joking.
The no religion in chat rule is just to stop arguments from happening. This is applicable in the same way. People have very strong opinions about the topic which should be kept out of chat.
Well. To begin with, I'd like to know who the f*** kicked someone for being gay, like legit. I kick people who use it when it's in an abusive kind of way, not because someone expresses their sexual orientation. Other than that, most of the people you have in the screenshots are kicked by either me, or the other mods who are there when I'm busy (I hope). MAYBE your case was a misunderstanding, MAYBE someone abused the command, MAYBE some ARE homophobic. But you, as showed in your screenshot, can't mark the entire community as homophobes, as I take offence to that. I do my best to keep it equal between all, whatever they are. So if this is some kind of report, then you can include yourself in that one, as I take offence to your statement. In most other cases, no harm is intended. Most of the times, it's a joke. In Kron's case, him and Exas are good friends. Cheese and Lauren are together, I believe and I myself is just messing about, which majority of the players don't really mind. Noone except you, in this case. IF you do have a problem with anyone in the chat, PM a staff rather than creating a thread, that will most likely not affect anything. As Krissy stated, those types of dicsussions, along with religion, has a history of becoming... Violent. As for my own understanding over this thread, I feel as if this is more of a call of attention than anything. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. Oh well.
Oh, and regarding: This is extremely ignorant and holds nothing but your own view. A consideration towards the fact that we are CONSTANTLY working towards having an equal community and how hard it is to maintain such a community, would be very appreciated by the staff team. I don't think you know how it is to have to handle hundreds of players of which most are just kids. We are only human and can only do as much as we can. You can't ask for the utopia that YOU wish for. If that is what you're seeking, I'm afraid you will have to leave. We aren't magicians.
Anything I have to say has already been said, but I will say this: We can't fully prevent people from being inappropriate in chat. However, we can make sure that the player learned his/her lesson. And we're more busy than you think. If we tried to meet every single player's expectations, such as you expecting us to punish those mentioning their sexuality, we would never be able to maintain this community. Know this and remember it.
