I have played on .net for around one year. I've seen people come and go, and seen the server grow. Right now, I believe it could use some more quality moderators, and I believe that I could be one of those. So, here is my application, formally presented to whom it may concern:

Have you ever been banned? (if yes, why?)
I have been banned twice before, for a brief period each time.

The first was by mistake: I was planning on restarting my island and so had packed my things and stored them temporarily elsewhere. Instead of having the remainder of my island go to waste, I decided to give the rest to the community, and so invited anyone who wanted to, to come "grief with permission of owner." Cypriotmerks misinterpreted this and banned me, immediately unbanning me once those present spoke up that it was mine to begin with.

The second was a (mostly) innocent blunder on my part: I had been to a public warp of some sort, perhaps Christmas. After exploring for a moment, I happened upon a bedrock building. After finding my way in, I saw nothing of interest and promptly teleported away, but not before catching a glimpse of a sign saying something along the lines of 'no trespassing'. Turns out this was something called the "mod vault," and I had broken an unspoken rule by entering it.

Why do you think you should be a mod?
I should be a mod because I believe that this community deserves as many people who will actively enforce their jobs as possible. I've seen a lack of committed moderation on the server lately; either this is due to offline moderators, or an overwhelming amount of misbehavior. In either case, having another team member such as myself can only yield benefits.

I don't want this job for the power, as little or as much (depending upon the outlook) as it brings. No, lording power over people is distasteful, and is... boring. Rather, I wish to put my efforts into rounding out the edges on the community: I see so much potential, and want badly to be a part of the effort that pushes it up into a whole new tier. Already it is great as it is, but like every great living thing, requires pruning and maintenance. As a continually growing entity, surely it only makes sense to promote more caretakers.

But, I recognize that moderation is more than shaping up the bad; it's also about supporting the good. Therefore, peer to peer interaction and approachability are key, both of which I consider strong suits of mine.

How long can you be active on the server every day?
I can be online a decent amount, anywhere from a minimum of an hour each day, to three to four hours if I have nothing else going on and I don't have an active job.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?
I have a lot of past experience with moderation. I have owned two servers in the past, each lasting a decent while, while maintaining regular players. As such, I have found myself alongside those I have recruited to moderate full-time. I have experience with logging plugins similar to, and including, LogBlock. I am very professional in my player interactions, and am neither too harsh nor too lenient in terms of punishment and warning. I have found that enforcing one's own rules garners an appreciation for others', as there is a mutual understanding of why certain ones are in place.

About me:
I am a twenty year old freelance programmer attending college, majoring in Psychology. I am familiar in interacting with people, and conflict resolution. I consider myself a fair and honest person, and I like to try to understand different perspectives on things.

Granted, I appreciate your input. The question was clearly, "why I think I should be mod," not why I want it. I should be, because I see an insufficiency in the current situation and am qualified for the position with my past experience. Like I said, this insufficiency could be for any number of possibilities, not all including some deficiency on the present staff's part. My point was to say, "there is a problem, and no matter what the cause, having another qualified person on board can't hurt." Surely, if the moderation team was at the top of its potential, there wouldn't be a need for new applicants. If pointing this out puts me on a pedestal, so be it.

I agree, there could be more information, but most of what could be added is irrelevant.

"I want to help the server." ofc you do, that's why you applied.
"I'm nice." Sure you are.

These are some things I see people put, and I chose not to include this sugary stuff. But I do agree with your advice on forum activity. This is something I seek to increase; I tend to be more of a lurker, usually.

Thanks for the support everyone! canhay your personal experience on a different server is not applicable since the experience in question was on a maintenance-mode server (basically private), you were acting beyond inappropriate, were not welcome, and I was trying to work on something else. I merely asked you to stop spamming, maybe not so politely, but that's it. You were banned by someone else, not me. I wish for this discussion to discontinue — anymore and I will request all comments related to it be deleted. A mod application is not the place for a flame war.

 

I am sorry Jack I was being foolish and was taking my anger out on you and trying to stop you from becming mod because I was mad at McMuffin. I do think you would be good at this job because of the way you handeled my message so I am saying 100% support and I hope you will forgive me.

Very good app. A change I would make is add some colour. It is very good, but it is kind of bland and boring. Brighten it up a bit and a lot more people will read and hopefully support. Other than that, good.
