Because this forums is not a place to play favoritism among users. I think it's dumb how you said people can't accept others opinions anymore. When the whole point of closing the threads is to stop any further flaming or unnecessary favoritism.

Favorite Mod = Opinion. Locking it makes it look like people can't accept opinions.
It's not in the forum rules, so we are allowed.
Who flames over people's opinions? :s

There are some people out there (maybe not the mod themselves) who think that person should be considered the best, and sometimes causing arguments.

Favoritism causes mass debates and things of that nature. (Ex: People who have different favorite games can lead to large debates that can go years on end, like the Minecraft vs. Roblox debate.)

Even though favoritism can hurt people's feelings, I don't think it'll affect anyone much at all.
I mean, if I don't like something, I try to ignore it.
Yes, it can be sad if you don't get tagged in those threads, however, no-one is forcing you to look at 'em.
Also, even though you don't get tagged, it doesen't mean they don't like you. Usually they pick 3 out of 7-15 moderators. That they pick 3, doesen't mean they hate all the others.
Some have said that if you care too much about the favorite moderator threads, you shouldn't be a moderator.
I belive that is wrong. Just because you care what people think about you, doesen't mean that you can't moderate. Caring doesen't affect your moderating abilities/skills.

I uderstand why people are against these threads and want favoritism away from the forum, but I personally think that even though I don't like the "favorite mod" threads, people should be able to express their opinions.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and should be able to share it.

Dig a grave and lie down into it. Then cover up with sand, only letting your head stick out. People will step on it.

Wow, this turned into a bit of a flame war, just like the original threads. >.>

I agree that the threads shouldn't be locked, as it isn't against forum rules and it is opinion. However, this thread is opinion too and when I made my original post in it, it was in hopes that people with the desire to create the threads would read it and maybe take a second thought.

Also, we're not talking about a single thread that you could just simply ignore, there's been five or six of those threads started at least. Personally, being asked to pick favourites makes me extremely uncomfortable and by the amount of people posting, agreeing that they have no favourites and that there's too many of the threads, it only pushes that I'm not the only one uncomfortable and these threads are getting on people's nerves.

As for the comments about it being feedback, it's not constructive feedback. They're saying "this person does this thing well", but if there's another mod who does it just as well, but that person doesn't know them, that's not constructive at all really. Constructive criticism would come from telling a mod... you could do this better. You specifically, not just every other mod than this one because I believe they do it well.

Not to mention, as I said before mods who have done their job, and banned someone fairly, probably aren't going to be that person's favourite. So we're supporting criticism that says don't do part of your job? Because that's a bit of what I read out of it. The people are going to support the mods who helped them when they needed it, and not the mods who punished them when they also needed it. Mods need both parts.

Yes, we're just a bunch of people on the internet, but do we not claim to be a community? We all know that behind these computer screens are people, and where there's people, there are emotions. So sure, it's all opinion and sure no one should let it get to them, but should and what actually happens are kind of out of control when we talk about emotion.

So yes, freedom of speech and voice your opinions and all of that, but in the least, can we have one, single thread and then drop it? Do we really need a million threads forcing the issue? It's causing a lot of fighting and yes, it can cause hurt feelings.

    That's my two cents anyway.
